About this role

- Job Title: Technical Project Manager
- Type: Full Time, Permanent
- Salary: £72,000.00 - £80,000.00
- Location: EcoPark, Edmonton North London

About LondonEnergy:

LondonEnergy plays a vital role in managing North London's waste and supporting the circular economy. We process approximately 750,000 tonnes of waste each year as part of one of the largest waste contracts in the UK.

Through our waste-to-energy operations, we generate enough electricity to power approximately 80,000 homes annually, while also supporting reuse and recycling initiatives across North London.

As we continue to invest in new infrastructure, operational improvements and major strategic programmes, we are looking for a Technical Project Manager to support the safe and successful delivery of projects across our waste management facilities.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead projects and workstreams across LondonEnergy's operational waste management facilities. Reporting to the Transition Manager, you will manage projects from concept and design through construction, commissioning and handover into live operations.

The role will have a strong focus on civil engineering and infrastructure works, including site upgrades, civil works, contractor-led projects and the integration of new or modified assets within busy operational environments.

Health and safety will be a key priority. You will ensure projects comply with CDM Regulations, LondonEnergy governance and Management of Change requirements, while providing practical technical oversight to ensure projects are safe, compliant, cost-effective and suitable for operational use.

This is a hands-on role requiring regular site presence at EcoPark and other project locations, particularly during construction, inspections, commissioning and key delivery stages. You will work closely with operations, contractors, consultants and internal technical teams.

Responsibilities

- Project Delivery: Lead technical projects and civil engineering or infrastructure workstreams from project definition and design through construction, commissioning and final handover.
- Project Controls: Manage project scope, budgets, programmes, resources, risks, dependencies and changes, providing clear updates and recommendations through governance processes.
- Technical Oversight: Review designs and technical proposals, provide constructive challenge and ensure solutions are safe, compliant, practical, buildable and fit for operational use.
- Contractor Management: Manage contractors and consultants, ensuring they meet required standards for health and safety, quality, cost, programme, documentation and value for money.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with operations, project teams, consultants and specialist technical disciplines to manage interfaces, resolve issues and support effective decision-making.
- Commissioning & Handover: Lead technical operational readiness, including inspections, testing, commissioning, defects management, asset information and the formal handover of completed works.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety requirements, LondonEnergy governance and Management of Change processes, maintaining a strong site presence and overseeing inspection and sign-off.

Requirements

- Qualifications: Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related technical discipline, or substantial demonstrable experience delivering civil engineering projects.
- Project Management: Recognised project management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent.
- Project Experience: Significant experience delivering complex civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects through the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to commissioning and handover.
- Operational Environment: Experience managing projects or workstreams within live industrial, utilities, energy, waste management, manufacturing or similar operational environments.
- Contractor Management: Strong experience managing contractors and consultants, with the ability to oversee performance, quality, safety, cost and programme.
- Technical & Governance Skills: Practical understanding of civil engineering and infrastructure delivery, with experience in project controls, risk, change management, governance and technical assurance.
- Health & Safety: Good knowledge of CDM Regulations, health and safety requirements and Management of Change processes, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Chartered or incorporated status, NEBOSH or experience within waste, energy, utilities or heavy industrial environments would be desirable.
