The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Project Manager to join our Consulting Project Management Practice team. With shared office space in Manchester, Sheffield and York, we welcome applications from Project Managers across these regions.
Supporting our growing project management team, working on our major projects such as Northern Power House Rail, Eastern Routes Partnership, North West & Central framework, Core Valley Lines, Trans-Pennine Route Upgrade and Cardiff Crossrail, etc. Our in-house engineers deliver design across all NR stages and all rail disciplines.
The role
Our Project Managers play an important part within our delivery teams and alongside our client. As a Project Manager you will be a key part of the team, acting as a team leader and taking responsibility for supporting your Project Management team in coordinating the integration of multidisciplinary designs across a variety of rail design schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior Project Managers.
Responsibilities include:
- Able to monitor and control project costs, progress of the works and scope variances with the assistance of technical teams while satisfying the overarching criteria of quality, cost and programme.
- Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
- Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within your portfolio ,
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function
- Drive effective health and safety practices within the team
What you will bring to us:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in an appropriate subject such as Civil Engineering, Project Management, etc.
- Full membership of the Association for Project Management
- Association for Project Management Project Professional Qualification (PPQ) or equivalent
- Developed experience and expertise within the field of Project Management, probably gained in a Assistant Project Manager role or equivalent
- Capable of acting as day-to-day main project management contact for a project where required under the terms of the commission
- Experience using project management processes and tools to keep track on project progress, costs, scope changes, etc
- Demonstrates good commercial awareness
- Demonstrates a good understanding of interface management
