About this role
Lead Your Market. Grow Your Team. Build Your Income.
At CarData, Inc. , we're looking for a driven, results-oriented sales leader to take responsibility for an established market, expand its dealership client base, and lead the local team responsible for delivering our services.
This isn't your typical sales management position.
As a Market Sales Manager, you'll oversee an established portfolio of dealership clients, manage a team of Automotive Photographers, and drive new business development throughout your territory.
You'll have the independence to manage your market, the support of an established national company, and a compensation structure that rewards you for both market performance and the new business you personally generate.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership of results, thrives on accountability, and wants to build a long-term career with a growing organization.
Compensation – Three Ways to Earn
We believe our market leaders should be rewarded for the success of the markets they manage, not just the hours they work.
1. Guaranteed Base Salary: $60,000 Annually
2. Monthly Market Revenue Bonuses
- Earn additional monthly compensation based on a percentage of the gross lot revenue generated by your assigned market.
- As your market's revenue grows, your earning potential grows with it.
- Your compensation reflects the overall performance of your market, not just your individual sales.
3. Residual Sales Commissions
- Earn ongoing residual commissions on qualifying new dealership accounts that you personally acquire.
- Build an additional recurring income stream through successful new business development.
- The more dealerships you bring to CarData, the greater your potential ongoing commission earnings.
Your total compensation combines a stable base salary, market performance bonuses, and residual sales commissions, providing multiple opportunities to increase your income.
What You'll Be Responsible For
1. Sales & Market Growth
Growing your market is one of your most important responsibilities.
- Actively prospect and visit automotive dealerships throughout your assigned territory.
- Build relationships with dealership owners, general managers, used car managers, and other decision-makers.
- Present CarData's professional automotive photography, video, and inventory merchandising solutions.
- Identify opportunities to replace existing photography vendors or improve dealerships' in-house processes.
- Consistently follow up with prospects, including dealerships that have previously declined our services.
- Negotiate and close new dealership accounts.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase market revenue and expand our local presence.
We are looking for someone who understands that sales success comes from consistent activity, relationship building, follow-up, and persistence.
2. Manage & Grow Existing Dealership Relationships
You'll inherit an established book of business that requires consistent attention and leadership.
- Maintain strong relationships with current dealership clients.
- Visit dealerships regularly to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for growth.
- Address customer concerns quickly and professionally.
- Identify additional services and revenue opportunities within existing accounts.
- Monitor dealership performance, service quality, and account retention.
- Help ensure CarData remains the preferred inventory merchandising partner for every dealership we serve.
3. Lead Your Local Team
Our Automotive Photographers, also known as Field Service Representatives, are the backbone of our business.
You'll be responsible for helping them succeed.
- Oversee the day-to-day performance of photographers throughout your market.
- Help recruit, interview, train, and develop new team members.
- Monitor productivity, attendance, service quality, and route performance.
- Conduct dealership visits and quality-control inspections.
- Coach underperforming employees and recognize top performers.
- Coordinate staffing coverage and ensure dealerships receive consistent service.
- Build a positive, accountable, high-performing team.
4. Take Ownership of Market Performance
We want a leader who takes genuine pride in their market's performance and treats its success as a personal responsibility.
- Understand your market's revenue, growth opportunities, and operational challenges.
- Monitor key performance indicators and hold yourself and your team accountable.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Balance customer satisfaction, employee performance, and revenue growth.
- Communicate regularly with CarData's executive leadership.
- Take initiative, solve problems, and make decisions that support the company's long-term success.
You'll have significant independence in managing your market, along with clear expectations, measurable goals, and accountability for results.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate combines strong sales ability, effective people management, and a results-driven leadership mentality.
We're especially interested in candidates who:
- Have proven experience in outside sales, business development, or territory management.
- Have experience leading employees or managing field operations.
- Are comfortable walking into dealerships, introducing themselves, and building relationships from scratch.
- Understand that consistent sales activity drives results.
- Are self-motivated and capable of working independently without constant supervision.
- Can balance acquiring new business with supporting existing customers and employees.
- Have strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Are comfortable being held accountable for measurable results.
- Are competitive, motivated by performance-based compensation, and eager to increase their earnings.
- Want a long-term career opportunity with an established, growing company.
Automotive dealership experience is a plus, but not necessarily required.
We value demonstrated sales ability, leadership, work ethic, and the willingness to learn our industry.
What Makes This Opportunity Different?
Most sales managers are compensated primarily for their own sales. Most operations managers are compensated primarily for managing employees.
At CarData, you have the opportunity to earn from BOTH — plus residual income.
You're rewarded for:
- Growing your market's overall revenue.
- Managing and retaining existing dealership accounts.
- Developing a productive local team.
- Personally acquiring new dealerships that generate recurring business.
You'll be joining an established organization with an existing client base, proven operational processes, and support systems already in place.
Your opportunity is to lead your market, expand its success, and be financially rewarded for the results you produce.
