Reporting to the Production Manager, the CNC Programmer is responsible for reading and interpreting shop drawings to create 3D programs for CNC routers.

What does a CNC Programmer do?

- Creates 3D programs for 3-axis and 5-axis wood CNC routers using Mastercam 22 and up, Mastercam 2017 or Mastercam 2018.

- Reads and interprets shop drawings.

- Collaborates with engineers, internal process partners such as Molding Department Leader, CNC Operators, Project Managers, external customers, and suppliers.

- Assists project teams with the physical assembly of prototypes.

Required Qualifications

- Technical college diploma or certificate with focus on CNC programming preferred.

- Minimum of 3 years of CNC and CAD experience in a similar role required.

- Proficiency with solid modeling using 3D CNC and CAD software.

- Knowledge of 5-axis programming using Mastercam.

- Knowledge of engineering practices and manufacturing processes.

- Awareness of industry and government safety standards.

What will make you stand out?

- Experience using other 3D programs such as Rhino, Revit and AutoCAD 3D

- Prior CNC machine operator experience

- Prior experience programming for wood materials.

Work Environment

Office Environment – This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required.

Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
