Job Description
Montgomery College, all campus locations, is seeking candidates for Part-Time Temporary Parking Enforcement Officers. The regular work schedule is 25 hours a week, Monday – Friday; hours to be determined at time of hire. This is a non-bargaining, non-exempt, temporary position funded through June 30, 2027. Employment continuation beyond this date is contingent upon need and funding. This position is responsible for performing various duties in the enforcement of parking regulations, handling all specific assignments, and their related problems and tasks. The work requires contact within the Public Safety Department and other outside agencies, as well as the general public to provide information related to the work while acting as a good-will ambassador for the Montgomery College Community. The work is subject to general instructions and established routines to ensure the supervision of progress and desired outcomes, while upholding parking functions and ordinances.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Patrol the area of responsibility in the most effective and efficient manner possible while driving the mobile LPR vehicle.
- Issue parking citations legibly and accurately with the Mobile License Plate Reader, a computerized machine installed in the vehicle used to detect violations, communicate with a handheld device, and issue tickets to the printer.
- Assist citizens and others by providing information about parking ordinances and regulations, fines, the proximity of legal parking areas, and other information as required and/or requested.
- Assist visitors, students, faculty, staff, and others by being welcoming, accessible, and ready to provide direction, help, and general information about the college.
- Address the public in a friendly, helpful manner while being tactful and firm, and maintaining appropriate courtesy given the circumstances of the interaction.
- Follow through of oral and written instructions.
- Calmly provide timely and appropriate assistance in emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have reliable transportation to accommodate assignment to other campus locations as needed.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Salary range: $18.00 per hour
