Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Sr. Compliance Analyst to support and enhance our Corporate Compliance Program. Reporting to the Managing Counsel, Compliance, this role serves as a key contributor to compliance risk management, program analytics, compliance technology, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Sr. Compliance Analyst leads compliance risk assessments, develops and maintains risk assessment methodologies, analyzes compliance data and trends, and translates findings into actionable insights that support informed decision-making. This role also supports compliance systems and controls, training and communications, program effectiveness reviews, and ongoing adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Success in this role requires strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, as well as the ability to independently manage complex projects and collaborate effectively across the organization. The ideal candidate can interpret regulatory requirements and compliance risks and translate them into practical processes, effective controls, and data-driven recommendations that strengthen the overall compliance framework.

This position is based at Motiva's corporate headquarters in Downtown Houston, Texas. Employees work onsite Monday through Thursday and follow a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and facilitate enterprise-wide compliance risk assessments, including risk identification, evaluation, scoring, prioritization, control assessment, and mitigation planning across business functions.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance compliance risk assessment methodologies, risk scoring models, and risk-ranking frameworks to support informed decision making and effective resource allocation.
- Analyze compliance risk data and trends to identify emerging risks, root causes, control gaps, and opportunities for mitigation or program improvement.
- Partner with business stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls, recommend remediation plans, and monitor mitigation activities through completion.
- Develop and maintain compliance dashboards, risk assessment reports, heat maps, metrics, and executive-level presentations to provide visibility into compliance risks, trends, remediation activities, and program effectiveness.
- Support risk-based compliance monitoring and evaluation of internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Support corporate compliance audits and investigations, including related data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Track and report on compliance metrics, issues, and corrective actions.
- Support the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of risk-based compliance training and awareness initiatives.
- Serve as the functional lead for compliance technology and systems initiatives, including requirements development, configuration, testing, data validation, implementation, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation and records supporting compliance activities, audits, investigations, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, HR, Finance, Internal Audit, Operations, and other stakeholders to support compliance objectives and initiatives.
- Utilize compliance management systems and data analytics tools to monitor compliance activities, evaluate trends, and identify opportunities for program improvement.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and assist in evaluating their potential impact on the organization.
- Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5 or more years of experience in compliance, audit, legal, risk management, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience designing, conducting, or facilitating compliance or enterprise risk assessments, including risk identification, evaluation, scoring, prioritization, control assessment, and mitigation planning.
- Experience developing and applying quantitative and qualitative risk assessment methodologies, risk scoring models, and risk-ranking frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance best practices, and risk management principles.
- Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and develop practical, risk-based recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex compliance and risk matters clearly to senior leadership.
- Experience utilizing data analytics and visualization tools to evaluate risk trends and develop dashboards, heat maps, key risk indicators (KRIs), and compliance metrics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with compliance, risk management, or governance platforms.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively across functions.

Preferred Education and Experience:

- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., energy, financial services, healthcare, insurance, or technology).
- Experience with compliance program assessments, risk and control assessments, or control assurance.
- Experience with compliance case management, governance, risk management, reporting, data analytics, or data visualization platforms.
- Experience translating compliance or risk analytics into executive-level reporting and presentations.

- Knowledge of international trade compliance regulations, including but not limited to, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Experience with trade compliance software and denied party screening tools.
- Familiarity with global supply chain operations, particularly in regulated industries.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and compliance requirements, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data protection regulations.
