Hours: Approximately 3–5 hours per week, dependent on student demand
Availability: Weekdays between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Queen Margaret's School (QMS) is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Math Tutors to provide individualized academic support to students in our Junior School, with a particular focus on Grades 6 and 7.

The successful candidates will have a strong foundation in mathematics, an ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly, and a genuine interest in helping students develop confidence and proficiency in their learning.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide one-on-one or small-group mathematics tutoring to Junior School students.

- Support students in developing foundational mathematical skills, problem-solving strategies, and confidence.

- Adapt instructional approaches to accommodate individual learning needs and abilities.

- Assist students with understanding classroom concepts, completing assignments, and preparing for assessments.

- Foster a positive, encouraging, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience

- Strong mathematical knowledge, particularly at the Grades 6–7 level.

- Previous experience tutoring, teaching, or supporting school-aged children is preferred.

- Post-secondary education in mathematics, education, or a related field is considered an asset.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.

- Patience, adaptability, and a student-centred approach to instruction.

- Ability to complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector check, as required.

Schedule and Compensation

Tutoring takes place on weekdays between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. , with scheduling coordinated according to student needs and tutor availability.

The rate of compensation is $50.00 per hour . Hours are expected to average approximately 3–5 hours per week , although actual hours will depend on demand and are not guaranteed.
