The Nursing Director for Vascular and Complex Surgery leads a 32-bed inpatient surgical unit located in BIDMC's Klarman Building, a modern, state-of-the-art environment. The unit offers a dynamic, high-acuity setting with a strong, multidisciplinary approach to caring for patients across the surgical continuum.
Specialized care is provided for patients requiring acute and intermediate-level services with telemetry monitoring, including those undergoing vascular and endovascular surgery, aneurysm repair, advanced pancreatic and surgical oncology procedures, and other complex general surgical interventions. The unit offers exceptional clinical resources, including an Assistant Nursing Director and unit based educator
This is an opportunity for an experienced nursing leader to shape the future of a highly specialized surgical service while ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The Nursing Director is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, workforce engagement, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and financial stewardship. In partnership with clinical and administrative leaders, the Nursing Director ensures care aligns with professional and regulatory standards while fostering collaborative, high-functioning teams. This position receives mentorship from the Executive Director of the CardioVascular Institute, as well as peer support from other nurse leaders.

BIDMC is seeking an experienced Nursing Director to lead a specialized 32-bed Vascular & Complex Surgery Unit in the state-of-the-art Klarman Building. This high-acuity service cares for patients undergoing vascular and endovascular procedures, aneurysm repair, advanced pancreatic surgery, surgical oncology, and other complex surgical interventions.
As collaboration with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute continues to expand, the patient population and surgical services are growing, creating an exciting opportunity for a nursing leader to influence quality, innovation, workforce development, and clinical excellence. Supported by an Assistant Nursing Director, unit-based educator, executive mentorship, and strong interdisciplinary partnerships, you'll help shape the future of surgical care while leading a highly engaged team.
Qualifications
✅ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
✅ Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Finance, or Hospital Administration preferred
✅ Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
✅ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
✅ 3-5 years of related nursing experience required
✅ Experience with web-based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) required
✅ 1-3 years of leadership/management experience preferred

Pay Range:
$180,000.00 USD - $230,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
