We are looking for an experienced Senior Asset Management Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. Summary:

The Senior Asset Management Accountant plays a key role in supporting MMI Group's commercial real estate investment portfolios through financial analysis, investment accounting, development accounting, and cash flow monitoring. This position provides valuable financial insight to support decision-making related to acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, portfolio performance, liquidity planning, and investor reporting.

Working closely with the Asset Management, Property Management, and Development teams, the Senior Asset Management Accountant ensures complex transactions are accurately accounted for, financial risks are identified, and portfolio performance is effectively analyzed and communicated.

Required Skills and Abilities:

- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

- CPA designation, or equivalent professional accounting designation, is considered an asset.

- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate, asset management, development, or property management.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, internal controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.

- Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing activities, development projects, and other complex real estate transactions.

- Experience monitoring cash flows, performing variance analysis, reviewing job costs, and providing financial recommendations.

- Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Yardi is considered an asset.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and professionally.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead accounting support for acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing activities, development projects, condo sales, and other complex real estate transactions.

- Review transaction documentation, identify accounting implications, and coordinate accounting treatment with internal teams and external advisors.

- Prepare, review, and reconcile complex accounting entries related to investment properties, financing arrangements, and development activities.

- Monitor and reconcile key intercompany accounts on a monthly basis.

- Review recurring accounting entries, amortizations, and payment transactions for accuracy prior to posting.

- Review annual CAM reconciliations prepared by Property Accounting before submission for operational approval.

- Calculate and prepare invoices related to asset management, acquisition, disposition, debt guarantee, and other revenue streams.

- Monitor property, fund, and development cash positions and provide recommendations regarding liquidity, funding requirements, and cash flow timing.

- Coordinate credit facility draws and funding requirements for development and capital projects.

- Oversee development accounting activities, including project cost tracking, budget-to-actual analysis, and job cost reporting.

- Review monthly property and fund financial reporting packages and provide analysis of significant variances, trends, risks, and opportunities.

- Prepare fund-level financial analysis, commentary, and consolidated reporting for leadership and Asset Management.

- Prepare quarterly cash position, distribution, and liquidity analyses for investment properties and funds.

- Support the calculation, coordination, and remittance of investor distributions.

- Collaborate with Financial Investment Analysts to support investor reporting requirements and variance explanations.

- Assist with the preparation of annual audit working papers and audit support documentation.

- Perform monthly analysis of Asset Management operating results for inclusion in corporate financial reporting.

- Monitor Asset Management receivables and coordinate collection activities with appropriate stakeholders.

- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, financial controls, and operational efficiency.

- Other duties as required and assigned.
