About the Position:

You will be the main point of contact for installation, configuration initial point of contact for user inquires and troubleshooting requests, including helpdesk support.

Specific Responsibilities

- Troubleshooting of hardware, software and connectivity issues in an Enterprise environment

- Active Directory tasks – account and object creation and modification

- Installation and configuration of servers, desktops workstations and laptops, including operating system

- Installation and application software as well as installing upgrades and patches

- Installation and configuration of printers and other computer peripherals.

- Monitor and answering service desk ticketing system

- Proactive network and server monitoring and troubleshooting

- Ongoing maintenance of systems documentation

- Providing support for multiple sites

- Providing support outside normal hours of work.

- Other duties as assigned

- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Proven troubleshooting and technical support skills
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to be a team player, a strong sense of responsibility, and an excellent work ethic
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Experience with one or more of the following: Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, Hyper-V, or Azure
- General knowledge of laboratory practices and laboratory information management systems

Required Qualifications

- A minimum of one year of professional experience—or an equivalent combination of training and experience—supporting Windows servers, LAN/WAN networks, and computers
- Experience with desktop operating systems and application software, including but not limited to Windows 7 and 10, Microsoft Office, and Office 365
- Experience with server operating systems and application software, including but not limited to Windows Server 2012 and later versions
- Knowledge of network connectivity, protocols, and security devices, including VPN troubleshooting
- Availability to travel to data centres and remote sites to provide services

Physical Demands

- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift or carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 7.5 hours per day
- Ability to communicate via telephone and email without assistance
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks, such as data entry

- An estimated hourly pay of $28.62 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
