The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking a motivated AI/ML Engineering Intern to join the Cognitive Baseline (CB) team within Applied AI.

Cognitive Baseline builds the foundational software, AI/ML capabilities, developer tools, and engineering infrastructure that enable teams across Lockheed Martin to develop and deliver mission-focused artificial intelligence solutions faster. Our focus is not just developing AI algorithms – we build the reusable software ecosystem that allows those capabilities to be discovered, integrated, tested, deployed, and scaled across programs.

As a Cognitive Baseline intern, you will work alongside software engineers, AI/ML engineers, DevSecOps engineers, product leadership, and technical leads on real engineering challenges supporting Lockheed Martin’s broader Applied AI mission.

The selected candidate will focus on the development of software products that implement Artificial Intelligence to provide discriminating capability to our customers. This will require engagement in every phase of the system development lifecycle including requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, integration, and flight test. Activities will range from proof of concepts, development of prototypes, building demonstrators, and transition to production.

Must exhibit self-motivation, a strong work ethic, time management and interpersonal skills. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN.

Basic Qualifications

* Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline.
* Experience programming in at least one language such as Python, C++, Java, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
* Understanding of fundamental software engineering concepts, including object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, version control, and software testing.
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a technical team.

Desired Skills

Candidates are not expected to have experience in all of the following areas. Experience or interest in one or more is a plus:

* Python and/or modern C++
* Machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar technologies
* AI/ML model development, training, inference, or evaluation
* Git and collaborative software development workflows
* Software design principles, design patterns, and clean architecture

Pay Information

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.

* Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $33.51 - $38.71
* Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc.
* Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $30.16 - $34.84
* Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.
* Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): $26.81 - $30.97
* Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas–Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.
* Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): $24.37 - $28.15
* Includes metropolitan areas such as Camden, AR; Lexington, KY; Lufkin, TX; etc.
