About this role
DIGITAL MARKETING MANAGER
The Luminos Fund, an international nonprofit bringing education opportunities to the world's most vulnerable children, seeks a Digital Marketing Manager to help more people discover, engage with, and support our education mission. This is an opportunity for an ambitious, creative, data-informed marketer to grow Luminos’ reach among prospective donors and influencers, and convert that interest into lasting, quantifiable engagement and support.
The Digital Marketing Manager will manage Luminos’ social media channels, digital audience growth, and outreach for major fundraising and awareness campaigns. Working closely with colleagues in Development and Communications, the manager will expand Luminos’ online reach by bringing Luminos stories and evidence to new audiences, engage and steward our existing online champions, and enhance the online experience for Luminos supporters. A central priority will be to expand Luminos’ online individual giving program, with success measured against growth in online contributors. This role will own digital marketing planning, execution, and reporting across channels, working in tight alignment with Luminos’ broader messaging and editorial priorities.
This new full-time role will report to the Senior Director of Communications within the Development & Communications team. We prefer candidates based in Boston or London, for overlap with the team, but will consider exceptional candidates based remotely within time zones from U.S. Eastern Time and GMT. Occasional travel may be required. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Duties and Responsibilities
Online Individual Giving Strategy
- Build Luminos’ online individual giving strategy. Luminos does not currently have a dedicated online individual giving program; this role will design and launch one and grow this segment through new donor acquisition, conversion, stewardship, and retention, including recurring giving.
- Develop distinct messaging for individual donors, with differentiated content, calls to action, and communication frequency by segment, in partnership with Development & Communications colleagues.
- Create and implement a post-giving engagement plan, including gift acknowledgment, welcome and onboarding journeys, impact updates, and second-gift and recurring-giving invitations, to deepen relationships and retain donors.
- Manage Luminos’ presence on third-party online giving platforms (e.g., giving marketplaces, workplace giving, and donor-advised fund platforms), including keeping profiles current and compelling, participating in platform campaigns and giving days, and ensuring gifts and donor data are tracked in Salesforce.
Email Marketing & Donor Communications
- Plan and execute email marketing campaigns in Mailchimp, including donor appeals, supporter journeys, and event communications, in partnership with Development & Communications colleagues.
- Build and maintain audience segments, automated journeys, and A/B tests to improve engagement and conversion; coordinate with colleagues on editorial content for newsletters and program updates.
- Lead digital outreach for major fundraising and awareness campaigns, from audience targeting and channel plans through launch, optimization, and follow-up. Coordinate email, social media, landing pages, and partner amplification to reach new prospects and invite them to engage or give.
- Plan digital promotion and follow-up for fundraising campaigns, donor-focused events, and related announcements, in partnership with Development & Communications colleagues.
- Keep campaign schedules, assets, approvals, tracking links, and results organized, and respond quickly as campaign opportunities and priorities evolve.
Social Media & Influencer Engagement
- Own the day-to-day management of Luminos' social media channels, including channel planning, creating content calendars, drafting posts, scheduling and publishing approved posts, engaging the community, responding to real-time opportunities with urgency (including after hours), and tracking performance.
- Adapt stories, research, video, event content, and other materials developed with the Communications team into effective platform-specific posts and campaigns, working with designers as needed, while maintaining Luminos' voice, brand, and visual identity.
- Develop and test ways to reach prospective donors and supporters, including organic campaigns, partner amplification, and, where appropriate, paid promotion.
- Identify relevant creators, advocates, and digital partners, and collaborate with colleagues to build relationships that extend Luminos' reach.
Donor Experience on the Luminos Website
- Partner with colleagues and outside vendors to enhance the donor path from first visit to deeper engagement, particularly on campaign landing pages, email sign-up forms, donation pages, and giving flows.
- Coordinate updates to campaign and fundraising pages, aligned with broader website content and editorial priorities.
- Use Salesforce and other available tools to understand how prospective and existing supporters engage across channels and recommend ways to enhance their experience.
Analytics & Reporting
- Be accountable for annual online giving targets, set with Development & Communications leadership, with growth in the number of online contributors as a key measure of success, alongside online giving revenue and donor retention.
- Set ambitious data-informed goals for social, email, web, and digital fundraising efforts; report on reach, engagement, audience growth, and conversions with recommendations for what to change.
- Work closely with the Senior Communications Manager and other colleagues to align marketing activity with organizational messaging, program evidence, and the communications calendar.
- Stay current on best digital marketing practices and recommend focused experiments that align with Luminos goals and resources.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5 years of progressively senior professional experience in digital marketing, communications, or fundraising, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven setting.
- Proven experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp strongly preferred), including audience expansion and segmentation.
- Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM, including using data to track engagement and inform strategy.
- Experience using AI tools to achieve goals and streamline workflows (e.g., Claude).
- Experience building or growing online individual giving or digital fundraising programs, with a track record of increasing donors and donor retention.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts and content calendars across major platforms, in real-time, with accuracy, and with urgency.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences.
- Comfort with analytics and reporting tools, and a data-informed approach to decision-making.
- Experience with online donation platforms (e.g., Fundraise Up) and basic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus.
- Experience working with celebrities, influencers, partners, and/or paid digital campaigns is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Interest in global education, evidence-based approaches to learning, and locally led development.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and time zones.
