About this role
Under the direction of the local Regional Executive Director and in alignment with criteria set forth by the respective Association Cabinets, the individual in this position is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all Membership, Wellness, and programs and initiatives that will enhance and elevate the member experience.
The Membership, Wellness and Program Director is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all wellness, group exercise and programs. Membership, Wellness, and Program Director will work with HR and the Regional Executive Director to recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise, and cultivate an integrated team of Wellness Coaches, Group Exercise Instructors, Personal Trainers, Welcome Center staff, Program staff and other support staff. Within the scope of practice and credentials, the Membership, Wellness and Program Director will conduct trainings and certification coursework for the benefit of the Association and the employees. The individual in this role will also serve on a collaborative leadership team to ensure that the strategic goals are met. The goals include, but are not limited to; operational, fiscal, community impact and mission advancement established for the Guyton Family YMCA are met or exceeded in a cohesive manner. Additionally, the Membership, Wellness, and Program Director will support and actively participate in Community Impact Campaign initiatives as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS:
- Ensure the successful implementation and growth of all healthy living initiatives to include group exercise, Livestrong, specific adult and youth wellness programs, active older adult programs, swim programs and opportunities, new member orientation, teen, youth and family programs, and wellness challenges.
- Lead Welcome Center department staff to provide excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment to the recruitment and retention of members. Provide strategies and goals for each staff member.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility; contribute to the preparation of the branch’s annual operational budgets. Monitor monthly financial reports to ensure revenue targets are being met and expenses are being controlled. Use discretion when utilizing corporate credit card. Submit accurate and timely monthly credit card reconciliations.
- Review and edit employee timecards to ensure biweekly payroll accuracy.
- Work directly with HR and branch director to recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise, and cultivate a successful team. Practice a management style that builds loyalty and promotes morale. Perform annual employee evaluations. Provide consistent and constructive feedback. Implement corrective action as necessary. Follow mandated human resources policies and procedures. Conduct regular departmental meetings. Provide support as needed to include shift or class coverage. Implement departmental policies to protect Y assets, safeguard member satisfaction and reduce risk and liability incidents.
- Actively engage in member outreach events and initiatives.
- Effectively and respectfully communicate (verbal and written forms) with leadership, peers, subordinates, members, and community partners to support optimal branch operations; minimize errors, accidents, incidents, and miscommunications. Completes participant accident forms and employee injury forms and reports injuries and incidents in a timely manner.
- Record and compile program statistics, identify trends to evaluate effectiveness.
- Build collaborative relationships (internally and externally) that best serve Y interests and drive mission forward.
- Effective oversight of program areas and equipment to ensure high levels of cleanliness and safety. Report necessary repairs to Facility Manager.
- Maintain knowledge of current wellness and program trends so as to expand existing programs and establish new programs to meet operational and community needs.
- Actively support and participate in Community Impact Campaign initiatives as directed.
- Plan, support and provide appropriate leadership for Branch events; to include Healthy Kids Day, Trunk or Treat, Angel Tree, and others as assigned.
- Oversee member and community benefit events, e.g. Lunch and Learns, Member Connections, Dance Parties, Pickleball and Informational Workshops and others as assigned.
- Attends partnership community events, which may include and require the individual to speak publicly.
- Maintain required certifications to include but not limited to; CPR/AED/Basic Life Support, First Aid, Oxygen, Certified Pool Operator. Avoid lapses in all required certification statuses by seeking recertification and continuing education opportunities. Play an active role in personal development. Pursue Y of the USA Team Leader certification as supported by budget and training availability.
- Within the scope of practice and credentials, conduct Association-wide trainings and certification courses. Maintain accurate and current staff certification records. Avoid lapses in all required certification statuses for departmental support staff by providing recertification and seeking continuing education opportunities. Play an active role in staff development.
- Attend and actively participate in required meetings; to include Cabinet, Leadership, Branch Board of Managers and Committee meetings.
- Create and distribute departmental marketing materials (including use of Social Media platforms) in alignment with the Association and Y of the USA brand compliance guidelines. Materials must be accurate and free of grammatical and spelling errors.
- Maintain a flexible and varied schedule to in order to achieve and maintain optimal program execution and operational effectiveness.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree (A.A.) from two-year College or technical school is preferred. High school diploma required.
- At least one-year related experience, or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory role is required.
