Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Plant Manufacturing Engineering organisation ensures that plant assets and tooling are employed with the latest, up to date technology in a plant operation, through an environment fully utilising continuous improvement techniques.

The position holder is accountable for leading and managing the NCP team, maintaining production performance and to deliver improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of Kinston site plant and machinery. There will be a strong focus on identifying improvements to the existing industrial system and setup across the Kinston plant as well as some external resource Management.

The role will also be expected to promote an environment where continuous improvement is recognised and implemented throughout the Kinston site.

The successful candidate will gain significant exposure to a range of plant strategic topics and will have the opportunity to interact with senior internal and external stakeholders as well as gaining operations experience in an industrial environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Manufacturing technology 60%

● Implementation of the up to date Numerical control programs that supports Industrial systems and technological developments. Deployment, maintenance and continuous improvement of the assigned Manufacturing Engineering field (NCP - Numerical Control Programming); ensuring consistency of the system output and impact across the Kinston plant.

● Defining and initiating required change activities, accompanying and enabling the ME-industrial systems and technology deployment in all relevant Kinston plant, cultivating a regular exchange with all stakeholders

● Lead and manage the NCP updates to ensure delivery in a timely manner from inputs / requests from the industrial system such as EQN’s, DQN’s, QN’s and Modifications.

2. Continuous Improvement 25%

● Identify and implement improvements to the Kinston plant through continuous improvement techniques. ● Analyse NCP performance data with a view to identifying improvement opportunities.

● Ensure ME team members and other relevant employees are aware of, and are involved in, continuous improvement tools and techniques.

3. Risk Management 10%

● Risk and opportunity management especially identification, anticipation and evaluation of upcoming risks (e.g. increasing legal requirements) and opportunities (e.g. technological progress).

● Set-up and approval of risk mitigation plans (e.g. rate capability)

4. Additional Responsibilities: 5%

Other duties as assigned:

● Promote a customer-focused mindset and act as a change leader within the Manufacturing Engineering organization.

● Ensure the correct standards are achieved for Aircraft and MOD Configuration for all program variants. ● Respond to and resolve technical queries from various departments and stakeholders.

● Develop and define assembly strategies for aircraft components.

● Specify and validate assembly tools and equipment required to ensure geometric tolerances and process efficiency. ● Other duties as assigned by the management.

Qualified Experience and Training:

Education:

Required

● Degree from an ABET engineering program or equivalent

Experience:

Required

● Minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment. ● Strong background in Manufacturing or Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering with a knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.

● Strong understanding of metallic and composite manufacturing, assembly techniques and treatment processes. ● Self-driven with a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Preferred

● Detailed knowledge of design methods both on 2D and 3D design platforms with excellent drawing/design interpretation skills.

● Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook or equivalent.

Licensure/Certifications:

Required

● Working knowledge and application of Business management systems (BMS) and Quality management systems (QMS).

Preferred

● General knowledge of FAA, EASA and ICAO preferred.

Travel Required:

● 5% Domestic and International travel.

Citizenship:

● Authorised to work in the US.

● Working knowledge of NCP technology and programs (SAP, MES Etc).

Complexity of the Role:

● Guided decision making with support of N+1.

● Stakeholder management complex – site, cross-department, divisional, international parent.

Organizational information:

Reports to HO Jigs, Tools & Maintenance (N+1) who reports to the OE Director (N+2). The NCP team currently includes 8 FTE and outsourced staff.

8 report staff (Manufacturing Engineering Configuration MOD Management Team).

Job Dimensions:

● Responsible for NCP activities in relation to Kinston Assembly plant.

Nature of Contacts:

● Involved, technical type communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties.

Physical Requirements:

● Onsite or remote: 20% remote MAX. - Aligned with the Airbus Hybrid working policy.

● Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

● Hearing: Able to hear daily to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

● Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

● Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

● Carrying: Occasionally able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

● Lifting: Occasionally able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

● Pushing / Pulling: Occasionally able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

● Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

● Squatting / Kneeling: Occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

● Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

● Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice.

● Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

● Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.

● Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the production floor.
