- Community Strategies (CS): Supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live independently and thrive in their communities. Providing a range of top-quality residential and non-residential programs for men and women with intellectual or developmental disabilities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Our programs offer individual and group treatment and are geared toward promoting independence and improving life skills. Clients also receive support with job development, on-the-job coaching, and educational opportunities.
- Reentry Services (RS): Supporting people leaving incarceration to make positive, sustainable life transitions. We firmly believe that change is possible and attainable for all that we serve. With a strict focus on outcomes, the Reentry Services Division is committed to delivering contemporary and evidence-based services to the individuals in our care. Through delivering innovative programming and collaborating with community agencies, we provide hope and support to our clients as they make safe and successful transitions into their communities.
- Crime & Justice Institute (CJI): Driving bold, transformative improvements in adult and youth justice systems by working with working with local, state, and national criminal justice organizations to improve public safety and the delivery of justice. The CJI team brings decades of experience developing evidence-based, data-driven policies, managing complex processes with diverse stakeholders, and driving systems-level organizational change. Our energetic staff and network of consultants come from a variety of backgrounds.
- Family Reentry (FRE): At Family Reentry, we address the often-intertwining problems of behavioral health, domestic violence, reentry, recidivism, and risks to youth by offering evidence-based interventions to provide support and effect positive change. We offer a holistic approach by working to connect clients to basic needs and offering support to create change and increase stronger coping and life skills.

Director, Domestic Violence Programs

Location : Connecticut - multiple locations
Schedule: Full time Monday-Friday with nights and weekends as needed
Salary : The starting rate for this position is $78,700

Job Summary

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for creating safer communities and supporting meaningful behavioral change? CRJ is seeking a Director of Domestic Violence Programs to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for our Family Violence Education Program (FVEP), Explore, and Evolve programs across multiple locations.

The Director is responsible for the administration, coordination, quality assurance, compliance, staffing, and performance of all domestic violence programs. This position works closely with the Assistant Director and program leadership team to ensure effective service delivery, staff development, contractual compliance, and positive client outcomes. The Director serves as a key liaison with courts, probation and parole departments, family relations personnel, CSSD representatives, and other referral sources while overseeing program operations and continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree with extensive program management expertise.
- Experience working with domestic violence populations.
- Experience facilitating groups and engaging court-mandated clients.
- Strong understanding of the criminal justice system, including courts, probation, parole, and community-based programming.
- Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and staff development experience.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience interpreting data, preparing reports, and managing budgets.
- Ability to oversee multiple programs, priorities, and contractual requirements simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems.
- Ability to build productive relationships with external stakeholders, referral sources, and funding agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

- Spanish language proficiency.
- Experience managing state or government-funded contracts.

Additional Requirements

- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as program needs require.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate operational and contractual obligations.

What You'll Do

Program Leadership & Operations

- Provide overall leadership, direction, and oversight of the Family Violence Education Program (FVEP), Explore, and Evolve programs.
- Ensure consistent implementation of approved curricula and evidence-based program practices.
- Oversee daily operations across all program locations to ensure quality service delivery and successful participant outcomes.
- Serve as a backup facilitator for groups as needed to maintain uninterrupted services.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director and leadership team to advance departmental and organizational goals.

Staff Supervision & Development

- Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and orientation of program staff.
- Supervise the Assistant Director and Domestic Violence Program Managers.
- Provide onboarding training, mentoring, support, and regular check-ins for newly hired facilitators.
- Conduct regular facilitator meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Facilitate supportive meetings to address facilitator concerns, group dynamics, and program challenges.
- Provide coaching, constructive feedback, performance evaluations, and ongoing supervision.
- Manage employee relations matters and support staff in resolving workplace concerns.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

- Ensure full compliance with all program regulations, contractual obligations, licensing requirements, and agency policies.
- Oversee quality assurance activities across all contracted services.
- Maintain expert knowledge of applicable contracts and funding requirements.
- Monitor program performance metrics and outcomes to ensure contractual goals are achieved.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies to strengthen program effectiveness.

Incident Management & Risk Oversight

- Lead incident review and debriefing meetings following significant events.
- Review incident documentation and related materials, including video footage when appropriate.
- Provide oversight and quality review of incident reports and corrective actions.
- Facilitate training and coaching aimed at improving documentation and report-writing practices.
- Support staff in addressing participant behavioral concerns and intervene when escalation is necessary.

Contract & Financial Management

- Monitor contracts to ensure all performance, reporting, operational, and financial objectives are met.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee program budgets.
- Analyze performance data and implement improvements as needed.
- Work collaboratively with agency leadership to ensure fiscal responsibility and program sustainability.

External Partnerships & Community Relations

- Serve as the primary point of contact for courts, family relations personnel, probation and parole departments, CSSD representatives, and other referral sources.
- Attend all required stakeholder meetings, including quarterly DV/CSSD meetings.
- Maintain communication with contract monitors and funding agencies regarding program performance and compliance.
- Build and strengthen referral relationships to support program growth and success.
- Address facility-related concerns and operational issues within domestic violence program locations.
