Join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Injection Molding Engineering Technician and contribute to our mission to advance health, environmental, and safety initiatives. In this key role, you'll ensure optimal equipment performance and maintenance while supporting continuous improvement in our manufacturing facilities.
The Injection Molding Engineering Technician supports Process Engineering in the development, execution, monitoring, and troubleshooting of injection molding processes.
This hands-on role supports mold trials, process development, engineering studies, validation runs, and continuous improvement activities, including machine setup, mold installation, and operation of injection molding equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on injection molding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with mold setup, machine start-up, process development, process monitoring, and troubleshooting of injection molding processes.
- Solid understanding of injection molding fundamentals, including fill, pack/hold, cooling, and key process parameters.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot common molding defects such as short shots, flash, sinks, dimensional variation, and cosmetic defects.
- Ability to operate injection molding equipment during production, engineering trials, and process-development activities following established parameters and procedures.
- Ability to recognize process deviations and work with Process Engineering, Quality, and Production to support stable manufacturing operations.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and technical/process documentation.
- Experience supporting mold trials, engineering runs, process development, or validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Exposure to Scientific Molding or structured troubleshooting methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with basic measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Familiarity with process documentation such as setup sheets, parameter records, and engineering work instructions.
