The Impact You’ll Have:

Alliant Engineering, Inc. has an exciting opening for a Professional Traffic Engineer to join the Traffic team in our Salt Lake City office.

As a Professional Traffic Engineer and an experienced self-motivated individual, you will use your project engineer skills to work in a team environment and lead on a variety of design projects in Utah and across the country.

Responsibilities:

Our team is looking for someone that possesses the following skills:

- Independently apply standard civil and traffic engineering principles and techniques

- Design traffic engineering elements of infrastructure projects, such as roadway lighting, traffic signals, signing, and pavement markings

- Prepare traffic design bid packages, including plans, specifications and engineer’s estimates

- Perform quality assurance detail checking reviews of plans, specifications and estimates prior to submittal

- Prepare Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) studies

- Conduct various transportation studies, including traffic operations analysis, traffic safety analysis, and concept alternatives development

- Write proposals, scopes of work and preparing project budgets

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

- 4+ years of experience in Traffic Engineering

- Licensed Professional Engineer

- Proficient with MicroStation and SignCAD

- Familiarity with traffic final design manuals and standards

- Working knowledge of traffic operations software such as Synchro/Sim Traffic, Highway Capacity Manual, and VISSIM

- Attention to detail and detailed design

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, organization and multi-tasking skills

- Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills

- Familiarity of industry practices and traffic engineering principles

- Ability to lead and mentor staff
