Reporting to the Senior Manager – Finance Systems, the Senior Analyst – Finance Systems will be responsible for assisting with Workday financial system configuration, reporting and troubleshooting, ensuring accurate financial operations across various modules such as accounting, financial reporting and procurement
This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment
What we are looking for:
Workday Financial System Support & Configuration
- Support the month-end and quarter-end close activities in Workday
- Assist with configuration and maintenance of the Workday Financial Management system to ensure seamless operation and integration of financial processes
- Troubleshoot Workday finance module issues
- Participate in system testing, configuration changes, and enhancements; document financial processes and maintain process documentation
- Drive data quality and governance across financial master data (chart of accounts, suppliers, customers, spend categories)
- Create and maintain security roles, business process configurations, and approval workflows
- Maintain and design Workday financial business processes to support operational requirements and system enhancements
- Identify opportunities for process automation and system optimization
Data Management & Compliance
- Perform regular data quality audits and document findings
- Support ICFR and audit committee requirements
- Maintain audit trails and transaction documentation; prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Finance teams, Operations, IT, and HR teams to gather requirements and deliver tailored financial solutions
- Communicate technical requirements and system limitations to non-technical stakeholders
- Provide ongoing support and training to finance team members on Workday functionalities and best practices
- Participate in Workday enhancement projects and system upgrades
What you will bring to the role:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
- 3–5 years in financial accounting, operations finance, or general ledger management
- 2+ years working with Workday or other enterprise financial systems
- 1–2 years experience working with large datasets using Excel or other database applications
- Working knowledge of Workday Finance modules including Core Financials (GL, Journal Entries, Accounting Rules), Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Expenses, Banking & Settlement, and Business Assets
- Demonstrated ability to understand GL structure, account hierarchies, and the financial close process
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, data validation, formulas, data analysis)
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical capabilities
- Ability to work with large-scale enterprise reporting systems
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to meet tight month-end/quarter-end close deadlines
- Ability to work independently and proactively ask clarifying questions
- Learning agility and willingness to develop technical skills (Workday, SQL)
- Workday Financials certification or active engagement with Workday training
- CPA or equivalent — an asset
- Experience with prior ERP system implementations or migrations
- Knowledge of ICFR (Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting)
- Exposure to consolidation processes or intercompany transactions
- VBA, SQL, or Power BI DAX programming knowledge
