Job Summary

Rental Caretakers are responsible for opening facilities and amenities, issuing and receiving equipment and supplies, supervising the facilities during rentals, enforcing facility rules and regulations, answering the telephone, facilitating program and activity registration transactions, completing various reports and correspondence as directed, dispensing information, providing support for facility users and rental groups, and securing the facilities and amenities upon closing.

The work schedule will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities may include daily hours as assigned by supervisory personnel. It is imperative that everyone our staff comes in contact with is treated with the utmost courtesy and respect, and that they receive the information they request.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Reporting for work on time and as scheduled.

- Opens and closes all applicable facilities for rental customers at prescribed time.

- Explains and enforces all applicable policies and procedures to rental customers.

- Responsible for performing maintenance duties as assigned.

- Follows all prescribed safety policies and procedures, at all times.

- Performs janitorial and porter duties as needed.

- Prepares rental reports and maintains records as directed.

- Recommends changes in policies and procedures based on work experience and comments from rental customers.

- Keeps restrooms and kitchen adequately stocked with necessary supplies.

- Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work-station.

- Responsible for caring for and properly maintaining all equipment and supplies issued to him/her.

- Protects the integrity of the facilities and equipment during rentals.

- Should be familiar with programs and activities offered through the Parks and Recreation Department.

- Reports to work as scheduled/directed and reports to work free from the effects of illegal substances or alcohol. Must not be impaired due to use of prescription medications.

Minimum Education and Experience :
High School Diploma Required. Some college coursework preferred. A minimum of two-years experience in the customer service industry, with cash management responsibilities preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:

Applicants must possess the following certifications, or have the ability to obtain these certifications within six months of employment start date:

- CPR Certification

- AED Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Applicants must possess excellent human relations skills and sound verbal & written communications skills. Applicants must posses a solid working knowledge of office computer systems, including but not limited to MICROSOFT WORD and MICROSOFT OUTLOOK. Knowledge of PAGEMAKER and INTERNET EXPLORER preferred. Applicants must be able to perform basic business math calculations, using cash register systems and business calculators. Must be able to work late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Computer skills required. Dependability, reliability, and good attendance required.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

Job Duties are typically performed in an indoor climate-controlled environment. Position requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time when necessary. Applicants must be able to transport themselves and move about a building, grounds and athletic fields. Position requires the senses of eyesight, hearing and speech. Position sometimes requires the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50lbs and to work outdoors in all types of weather.

Workplace Locations:

Rental Caretakers are required to cross-train at all three of our recreational facilities. In an effort to maintain adequate facility coverage and to allow our Rental Caretakers flexibility in scheduling time-off, we reserve the right to assign Rental Caretakers personnel to whichever facility we need them. The following are the three locations and the typical hours of operation for the same: While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is exposed to seasonal temperatures, to the sun for extended periods of time, to wet or humid conditions, blood born pathogens, body fluids of others, toxic & caustic chemicals. The noise levels in the work environment can be moderately loud on occasion.
