Overview

Senior Platform Engineer II

(Hybrid/Local/On-site 2 days/week)

The Senior Platform Engineer II will be responsible for rapidly troubleshooting production problems in systems and services running in Windows and Linux server environments, resolving and improving performance problems, and maintaining tools used by other IS teams, primarily the DevOps and Software Development teams. The role will include extensive coordination with the application, development, and security teams. The Senior Platform Engineer II will also be challenged with helping to enforce the hybrid, multi-cloud strategy and performing administrative functions inside of Azure and AWS tenants to meet the needs of Select Medical's dynamic environment. An ability to rapidly learn new technologies and environments to ensure a superior level of customer service is a must. They are responsible for incorporating and adhering to requirements defined by Select Medical technology standards.

Responsibilities

- Respond to and coordinate efforts to resolve alerts on test and production servers

- Create, configure, and maintain application and server monitoring tools

- Evaluate new platforms and systems for fit in our environment

- Assist technical and non-technical teams with application update rollouts

- Administration of tools utilized by Software Development and DevOps

- Enforce cloud standards and perform cloud tenant administration

- Infrastructure as Code

- Provide technical mentoring to the more junior Platform Engineers

- Innovation on how we host and maintain our systems and services; we provide DevOps and Software Engineering

- Design and create CI/CD templates to be used by DevOps and Software Engineering

- Ensure all changes comply with change management policies and procedures

- The ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information (including HIPAA and PHI) in accordance with federal and state laws and company policies

- Ability to effectively multi-task and adapt to changing business priorities

- Excellent attention to detail

Qualifications

- BS or BA or equivalent education and experience

- 10+ yrs. relevant experience.

- Mastery of Systems Administration

- Mastery of Terraform modules

- Mastery of AWS, Azure, M365, PowerShell, and infrastructure as code

- Mastery of source control, Gitlab CI/CD, Docker Images, and Kubernetes

- Working knowledge of IIS, Nginx, C#, and relational databases (SQL Server/Oracle)

- Requires superior teamwork skills.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must; ability to read, write, and speak in a professional manner.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.

- Must possess a personal sense of urgency.

- Ability to effectively multi-task and adapt to changing business priorities.

- Superior customer service skills.

- Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.

- Excellent attention to detail.

- Large scale multi-site IS operations experience.

- PC Hardware and peripheral experience.

- Knowledge of Microsoft productivity applications.

- Knowledge of browser-based technology.

- Understanding of operating systems including Windows and Linux.
