Fractional CFO
Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to support a high-growth technology start-up organization in building and strengthening its finance and accounting infrastructure. This highly hands-on role is ideal for a senior finance leader who can balance day-to-day accounting oversight with strategic financial leadership.
Engagement: Fractional / Contract
Duration: 3–4 months initially
Schedule: Up to approximately 20 hours per week initially
Location: Arlington, VA ( Remote; must be local to the DC metro area .)
Hourly Rate: $110.00 - $125.00/hour
Start: Immediate
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and cost monitoring.
- Establish and enhance financial processes, internal controls, procedures, and reporting.
- Build scalable accounting and finance infrastructure to support continued growth.
- Provide hands-on support across accounting activities, from invoice review through financial statement oversight.
- Help prepare the organization for future government contracting compliance requirements.
- Advise executive leadership on financial strategy, operational needs, and future growth.
- Serve as a credible financial representative when engaging with investors, lenders, and the board.
Qualifications
- Previous CFO, Fractional CFO, Controller, or comparable senior finance leadership experience.
- Government contracting experience required.
- Experience working with startup required for building finance functions or infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance expertise.
- Demonstrated experience developing financial controls, processes, procedures and compliance.
- Strong technology and financial systems aptitude.
- Polished executive presence with the ability to operate effectively with senior leadership, investors, lenders, and board members.
