What’s the role

Shell is seeking for Inspector Rotating to join its team in Deer Park, TX.

The purpose of the Rotating Equipment Inspector is to provide day-to-day experienced-based technical support for the site’s rotating equipment assets.

Accountabilities:

- Review new GSAP notifications for rotating equipment
- Review and respond to surveillance round exceptions identified by the unit operators’ exceptions
- Review maintenance schedules
- Perform inspection and quality control checks during equipment maintenance
- Assess equipment condition reports (vibration/lubrication) and initiating corrective scope/plans
- Document equipment inspection/repair procedures, enlisting check sheets, guides and best practices
- Issue detailed equipment inspection reports and training technicians
- Work in GSAP with notifications, work orders, BOM’s, ECH
- Perform unit walks surveying equipment operation/condition
- Measure equipment performance and assessing mechanical conditions of typical industrial machines
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions being aware of past historical information
- Create GSAP notifications providing repair/work scope details
- Develop work scopes for 3rd party (offsite) and Specialty contractors (on-site)
- Perform BOM QA and assist Maintenance Planner in specifying and quoting spare parts (especially long-lead items)
- Communicate work schedule for 3rd party (offsite) repairs and Specialty Contractors (on-site)
- Perform maintenance shop visits to inspect equipment disassembly, identify component wear/condition, identify source(s) of failure, inspect critical fits/dimensions, provide recommendations and approvals as needed to complete
- Provide Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Technician guidance on discovery work
- Perform equipment repair inspections to provide proper level of QC and QA at 3rd Party (offsite) repairs and/or Specialty Contractor (on-site)
- Provide equipment start-up observation and equipment health assessment information/feedback to Production
- Determine if Reliability centred maintenance PM Plan needs to be updated to better guard against Reactive failures
- Maintain equipment repair documentation

What you bring

- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience with refinery, petrochemical, chemical, or power generation mechanical equipment including 2 years of experience performing machinery inspections in a petrochemical plant
- Working knowledge of national and local codes, and standards. (i.e. API, ASME, NDT, ANSI standards in relation to all areas of machinery inspection and repair)
- Demonstrated understanding of the Management of Change process
- Analytical and problem-solving skills

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $155,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
