3G – Neuroscience & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

3G is a 24-bed neuroscience unit , including 11 dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds . The unit provides specialized care for patients with complex neurological conditions and is home to a Level 4 EMU .

Patient Population Includes:

- Epilepsy

- Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes

- Brain tumors

- Brain aneurysms

- Neuromuscular degenerative disorders

- Non-epileptic seizures

Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4

3G is the proud recipient of the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence and is an integral part of the hospital’s Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Program . The EMU is also the sole inpatient continuous video EEG monitoring program in Georgia , providing nurses with a unique opportunity to develop specialized epilepsy and neurological care expertise.

9E – Neuroscience & Neurosurgical Care

9E is a 22-bed acute care neuroscience unit focused on providing exceptional care to patients recovering from neurological and neurosurgical conditions.

Patient Population Includes:

- Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes

- Brain tumors

- Cerebral aneurysms

- Shunts

- Trigeminal neuralgia

- Neuromuscular degenerative disorders

Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4

RN Clinician Opportunity

The RN Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong understanding of patient care within a specific population. RN Clinicians use clinical knowledge, research, and experience to adapt to changing patient needs and provide individualized care based on the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care .

In this role, you will:

- Provide safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care

- Serve as a clinical resource and support for colleagues

- Advocate for patients and their families

Job Summary The RN Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong understanding of patient care for a specific population. Using clinical knowledge, research, and experience, they adapt to changing situations and personalize care to meet individual patient and family needs. They serve as a resource for colleagues and advocate for patients and families. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Clinical Practice and Patient Care 2. Delivers safe, effective, and independent nursing care using the nursing process. 3. Performs thorough patient assessments and recognizes the impact of nursing care on outcomes. 4. Develops and implements patient care plans, incorporating patient/family input and adjusting as needed. 5. Documents care accurately and efficiently in electronic and physical records. 6. Identifies patient and family learning needs, recommending appropriate resources. Leadership and Collaboration: 1. Delegates appropriately based on patient acuity and team member competency. 2. Works effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patient, and family care partners. 3. Functions in a developing leadership role, including Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned. 4. Precepts staff or students, including serving as a designated preceptor. 5. Identifies the need for policy revisions based on evidence-based research. 6. Participates in unit-based shared governance or practice council activities, bringing forward observations about workflow, equipment, or practice issues affecting patient care. Communication and Professionalism: 1. Demonstrates strong communication and conflict resolution skills. 2. Recognizes cultural differences and individualizes care accordingly. 3. Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all patient and organizational information. 4. Demonstrates behaviors that support open communication, psychological safety, and the One Emory Culture. Professional Development: 1. Engages in ongoing professional growth and applies evidence-based practice in daily patient care. 2. Collects, reports, and analyzes data to improve patient care and meet organizational standards. 3. Participates in surveys, interviews, and other methods to identify and resolve areas for improvement. 4. Meets all core standards, including current performance rating, mandatory education, and annual competencies. Minimum Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: - Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), AND either (a) 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years, OR (b) recent completion of a re-entry nursing program; OR - Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years. - Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program within 12 months of entering the role, if assigned to a WOC department. Exceptions: - Current LPNs employed within the Emory Healthcare (EHC) system who have completed an accredited RN program and obtain RN licensure are eligible to transition into this role while completing the RN Resident Program. - Emory LPNs enrolled in an Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role. Licensure: - A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing. - If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status. Certification: - BLS certification. - ACLS or PALS may be required for certain departments, post hire. - Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty.
