Job Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Benefits Consultant to join our growing team. This position will support a variety of employee benefits consulting engagements while developing expertise in benefits compliance, data analysis, and client service.

A significant component of this role will be supporting the annual preparation of Affordable Care Act (ACA) Forms 1094 and 1095 for contracted Baker Tilly clients. The Benefits Consultant will work closely with clients and internal team members to gather and validate data, identify and resolve discrepancies, prepare required forms, and help ensure accurate and timely completion of annual ACA reporting requirements.

This position is well suited for an early-career professional who enjoys working with data, solving problems, managing detailed processes, and providing high-quality service to clients.

Responsibilities

Benefits Consulting

- Support leadership and project teams on a variety of employee benefits consulting engagements.
- Assist with the collection, organization, review, and analysis of client benefits and employee data.
- Perform research and analysis related to employee benefits programs, compliance requirements, and industry practices.
- Prepare spreadsheets, analyses, client deliverables, presentations, and other project materials.
- Assist with recurring and special client projects, maintaining project schedules and helping ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
- Communicate with clients and internal team members to obtain information, resolve questions, and support project completion.
- Develop knowledge of employee benefit programs and applicable federal and state compliance requirements.

Affordable Care Act Reporting

- Play a key role in the team's annual ACA reporting process, including preparation of Forms 1094-B/C and 1095-B/C for contracted Baker Tilly clients.
- Coordinate with clients to obtain employee, eligibility, enrollment, payroll, and other information necessary to complete ACA reporting.
- Review and validate client-provided data for completeness and consistency and identify potential discrepancies requiring additional investigation.
- Assist with data imports, reconciliation, coding, and preparation of ACA reporting files and forms.
- Work with clients and senior team members to research and resolve data and reporting issues.
- Perform quality-control reviews to support accurate and timely preparation of client filings.
- Track client deliverables, outstanding information, and filing deadlines throughout the annual reporting cycle.
- Assist with corrections and other follow-up activities associated with ACA reporting.
- Maintain organized documentation and appropriately handle confidential employee and benefits information.
- Stay informed of changes to ACA reporting requirements, deadlines, and related guidance.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, economics, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
- One (1) plus years of relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with an ability to identify inconsistencies in large or complex data sets.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and an interest in developing advanced spreadsheet and data-analysis skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new systems, regulations, and technical concepts quickly.
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and high-quality client service.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous internship or professional experience in employee benefits, human resources, payroll, accounting, tax, compliance, consulting, or a related field.
- Experience working with large data sets, including data reconciliation and validation.
- Familiarity with employee benefits or Affordable Care Act employer reporting requirements.
- Experience with Excel functions such as lookups, pivot tables, formulas, and data manipulation.

The pay rate range for this job position is $51,200 to $100,680. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location.
