Overview
Our Houston Site Development team is seeking a CAD (Civil 3D) Technician I. The Tech I provides entry-level drafting and design support for engineering projects across multiple disciplines. This role works under close supervision to assist engineers and designers in preparing construction documents, exhibits, and technical support materials in compliance with company standards and applicable agency requirements. The position supports project delivery through basic CAD drafting, data organization, and coordination within a team environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform basic drafting and design tasks using CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Prepare and update construction plans and project exhibits for commercial and site development projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Utilize basic AutoCAD functions and develop proficiency with Civil 3D to support plan productions
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project managers to meet project objectives and deadlines
- Apply established company CAD standards to ensure consistency in layers, line styles, symbols, and sheet layouts.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of technical documentation and project files.
- Support QA/QC procedures and incorporate agency checklist requirements into construction documents.
- Maintain organized project files to support efficient team collaboration and information accessibility.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and project managers regarding assigned tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tools, processes, and discipline-specific requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting/Design, Applied Science, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of CAD software; familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar platforms preferred (software requirements may vary by discipline).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
- Reliability, dependability, and flexibility in assignments.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed.
- Ability to operate a company vehicle and travel occasionally, if required by assignment.
