About this role
Description
Our team is planning an SAP S/4HANA implementation to support our organization. You will help design and deliver an ERP that connects finance, accounting, supply chain, procurement, and the shop floor into a single digital thread. We are committed to building a clean-core approach, standard-first configuration, and an architecture meant to scale with the business. This platform unifies our supply chain into a single digital thread, and Sales & Distribution sits at the heart of how orders flow through the business. As the SAP Sales & Distribution Solution Architect, you will own the solution architecture for the SD domain end to end — translating how the business sells, prices, ships, and bills into a coherent, standard-first design that scales. You will build the Business Process Designs (BPDs) hand in hand with business, operations, and the integrated technical team, work backwards from order-to-cash and sales financial-reporting requirements, and ensure the architecture is designed around how the business actually operates while connecting cleanly to the broader supply chain, logistics, tax, and finance.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture for the SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) domain on S/4HANA, translating order-to-cash business requirements into a coherent, scalable, standard-first design.
- Build the Business Process Designs (BPDs) for the SD domain, working hand in hand with business stakeholders, operations, and the integrated technical team to align on standard process adoption, exceptions, and trade-offs.
- Work backwards from how the business sells, prices, ships, and bills — order management, pricing, availability, delivery, and billing — to ensure the SD architecture meets operational and commercial needs.
- Work backwards from financial reporting needs around sales — revenue, margin, and sales analytics — to ensure the SD design captures the right data to meet management and statutory reporting requirements.
- Own the integration requirements connecting SD to adjacent domains — Finance (FICO), Logistics, Procurement, and Supplier Collaboration — ensuring order-to-cash connects cleanly to record-to-report and fulfillment.
- Design the integration with customer point-of-sale/CRM systems, bringing sales transaction data back into the backend SAP ERP to establish a single source of truth for sales and downstream reporting.
- Design the integration with SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), embedding trade compliance, sanctioned-party screening, and export/import controls into the order-to-cash flow.
- Own the integration with outbound logistics systems, ensuring deliveries, shipments, and fulfillment hand off cleanly between SD and the logistics and transportation stack.
- Build tax determination and tax requirements into the SD design, partnering with Finance and tax teams to ensure correct treatment across order-to-cash and billing.
- Lead SD standard-versus-custom decisions, favoring configuration and clean-core extensions over core modifications, and set the design patterns the delivery team builds against.
- Build pricing governance, controls, master data standards, and audit and compliance requirements into the SD design from the start, rather than retrofitting them.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 10+ years of experience working in ERP implementation
- 5+ years of experience leading the Sales & Distribution domain in an ERP implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- Experience managing relationships with SAP customers and partners
- Experience in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud Platform, SAP Cloud ERP and Cloud ERP Private
- Experience in SAP clean core design concepts, including design and build using non-SAP technologies in domains such as Generative / Agentic AI, and data & analytics
