About this role

The Associate Director of Grants and Contracts supports the Director of Grants and Contracts in the coordination and administration of grant activities for Northeast Community College and the Northeast Community College Foundation. The position provides administrative and operational support throughout the grant lifecycle, including funding opportunity research, proposal preparation and submission, grant records management, deadline tracking, reporting coordination, and post-award administration.

The Associate Director serves as a central point of coordination for grant documentation, systems, timelines, and internal communication. The position works across the institution to support the Director, project directors, Grants Compliance Accountant, and College personnel in the successful development and administration of externally funded projects.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.

Experience: Over one year up to and including three years.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, external partners, and other stakeholders.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related productivity tools.

- Ability to learn and effectively use grant management, project management, document management, and other institutional technology systems.

- Demonstrated ability to provide effective administrative and operational support in a professional environment.

- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

- Knowledge of or experience with grants, sponsored programs, contracts, or externally funded projects.

- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, government, or a similarly complex organization.

- Familiarity with the grant lifecycle, including funding research, proposal development, award administration, reporting, compliance, and closeout.

- Experience coordinating projects involving multiple departments or stakeholders.

- Experience tracking deadlines, deliverables, budgets, reports, or other project requirements.

- Experience researching funding opportunities and reviewing grant or funding guidelines.

- Experience assisting with proposal preparation, editing, submission, or reporting.

- Experience in developing grant budgets and budget narratives.

- Familiarity with federal, state, foundation, or corporate grant requirements.

- Experience with SharePoint, project management software, grant management systems, or similar information-management platforms.

- Ability to identify opportunities to improve administrative processes, workflows, documentation, and departmental efficiency.
