Job Description Summary
- Department: Micron's Fab Engineering team brings together process and equipment engineers who start up, develop and optimize the manufacturing processes behind Micron's products.
- Position: As a Fab Engineer, you will improve product quality, reliability, yield and productivity, lower costs, manage risk and resolve manufacturing line problems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize process conditions, technology and wafer fabrication recipes to improve process capability, yield and product quality.
- Set up and adjust process parameters across a variety of semiconductor equipment.
- Find, diagnose and resolve process and manufacturing line problems through root cause analysis using failure analysis, FMEA, 8D and SPC methods.
- Partner with shift engineering and other process areas to control process deviations and investigate long-term defect issues.
- Lead and take part in yield improvement, cost reduction and productivity projects.
- Evaluate, plan and qualify new equipment, materials and process baselines so products meet design and performance specifications.
- Manage, audit and work with material suppliers to meet quality, cost and risk management goals.
- Use AI tools where they help, and contribute to developing Agentic AI workflows for current or future processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent technical military experience.
- 3+ years of experience in semiconductor process or equipment engineering, gained through professional work, internships, research or military service.
- Hands-on experience using structured problem-solving methods (FMEA, 8D, SPC or failure analysis) to resolve process issues.
- Skill in analyzing process data to find trends, deviations and improvement opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in one or more process areas: Photo, CVD, PVD, Diffusion, Implant, Etch, CMP or Wet.
- Experience leading new process qualifications, yield improvement or cost reduction projects in high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience with tool installation and qualification.
- Experience with supplier management or material quality audits.
- Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.
