We are looking for a sharp, analytical attorney who loves digging into complex legal issues.
The Firm
The Law Firm for Truck Safety is a nationally recognized law firm dedicated exclusively to representing victims of catastrophic truck crashes. Our attorneys are leaders in trucking litigation, and many hold commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) and board certifications in Truck Accident Law.
Our mission extends beyond the courtroom. We work alongside clients, lawmakers, and industry leaders to push for meaningful trucking safety reforms and prevent future tragedies. Through legal excellence and industry advocacy, we help families rebuild after devastating crashes and work toward a safer future on our roads.
What You Would Earn
The position pays between $100,000 and $130,000 base salary, depending on experience, with performance-based bonus opportunities. We also offer a 3% employer 401(k) contribution, and because this is a non-billable role, your time goes to the work itself rather than to the clock.
The Role
As our Research Attorney, you will provide high-level legal research, analysis, writing, and litigation support on high-stakes trucking and catastrophic injury matters. You will work collaboratively with the attorneys in our Oklahoma City office and play an important role in developing the legal and factual foundation for case strategy, motions, briefs, trial preparation, and trucking safety advocacy.
The ideal candidate is a highly analytical attorney with excellent research and writing skills who enjoys digging into trucking regulations, case law, and detailed factual records. This role can be performed remotely or on a hybrid basis within Oklahoma.
The Work
Your responsibilities will include:
• Conducting comprehensive legal research on trucking litigation, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and related issues
• Researching and analyzing federal and state trucking regulations, including FMCSA regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements
• Analyzing case law, statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, and other legal authorities across relevant jurisdictions
• Preparing legal research memoranda, case analyses, briefs, motions, pleadings, and other written work product
• Analyzing complex legal and factual issues and identifying relevant authorities, arguments, risks, and avenues for further research
• Supporting discovery and litigation research, including review of accident reports, medical records, corporate records, deposition transcripts, and other case materials
• Helping develop legal theories and case strategy through targeted research and written analysis
• Researching trucking operations, driver qualifications, hours of service, maintenance, safety practices, electronic logging devices, and carrier policies
• Monitoring developments in trucking law, regulations, safety standards, and significant case decisions
• Building and maintaining organized research resources, with accurate citations and source documentation
• Providing timely research and writing support for depositions, hearings, motions, mediation, and trial
• Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, experts, and other team members to evaluate legal and factual issues
• Tracking assignments, deadlines, and research projects in a non-billable hourly environment
• Contributing to the Firm’s trial-first approach with thorough, practical, and well-supported legal analysis
About You
At minimum, this means:
• A J.D. from an accredited law school
• An active license to practice law in Oklahoma (or ability to obtain admission in due course)
• Three to six years of legal practice experience, with significant legal research and writing experience
• Excellent research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• A strong ability to locate, evaluate, synthesize, and clearly explain complex legal authorities
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, well-supported written work
• The ability to manage multiple research assignments and deadlines in a remote work environment
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other team members
• Willingness to travel occasionally for Firm meetings, litigation support, and training
The following are a real plus:
• Active license to practice law in Oklahoma and ability to obtain admission in Missouri
• Plaintiff-side personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, or trucking litigation experience
• A federal judicial clerkship
• Familiarity with federal and state trucking regulations, including FMCSA regulations
• Experience conducting complex legal research for litigation or trial preparation
• Experience drafting legal research memoranda, motions, briefs, or appellate work
• Experience researching issues involving commercial motor carriers, truck drivers, trucking safety, or transportation regulations
• Trial or litigation-support experience
Why This Role
This is a research-intensive role supporting complex, high-value catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. You will work remotely while supporting a nationally recognized trucking litigation practice, develop deep expertise in trucking safety, regulations, and litigation, and have a direct impact on case strategy, trial preparation, and the Firm’s pursuit of trucking safety reforms. The work is meaningful: you will be advocating for truck crash victims and helping make our roads safer.
How We Will Support You
In addition to your earnings, we offer comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, vision, and ancillary benefits, a 3% employer 401(k) contribution, and paid time off and sick leave. You will also benefit from professional development and training opportunities in a collaborative, mission-driven firm.
If you are eager to do serious legal work, take on meaningful responsibility, and support cases that can both change lives and improve roadway safety, we want to hear from you.
