Our Engineering and Sciences (E&S) organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills and innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter. Come be a part of our mission!
We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Analog & Nuclear Hardness and Survivability (NH&S) Design Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. In this role, you will combine deep analog design expertise with leadership in nuclear hardness, radiation effects, and survivable electronics. You will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our enterprise‑wide digital transformation. Through the use of Model‑based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team‑oriented with a focus on team empowerment and shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation.
What You’ll Get to Do
Under minimum supervision, you will:
Analog Design & Electronics Development
- Perform analog circuit design and analysis to support development of new products and survivable electronic systems.
- Execute system‑level requirements analysis and develop subsystem‑level requirements, conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed design through design verification and characterization.
- Perform circuit modeling, simulation, and analysis as well as signal and power integrity analyses on PCB designs.
- Conduct schematic capture and support PCB layout using tools such as Mentor Xpedition, Cadence, and/or Altium Designer.
- Support circuit and subsystem test and troubleshooting in the lab, including design verification and characterization of analog and mixed‑signal hardware.
Nuclear Hardness & Survivability (NH&S)
- Define and assess nuclear hardness and survivability (NH&S) environments and requirements, and decompose/flow those requirements into firmware, hardware, and hardware/software interface designs.
- Conduct radiation transport modeling and simulation and support analysis of radiation effects on semiconductor devices and software‑controlled electronics (e.g., TID, NDD, dose‑rate, SEE) to inform architecture and design trades.
Experience with any of the following tools.
FASTRAD
OMERE
Novice
Space Radiation
TRIM/SRIM
- Perform radiation‑effects circuit analysis, as well as ground shock and thermal effects analysis, and evaluate electromagnetic pulse (EMP/EMI/EMC) impacts on electronics and software‑controlled systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and support NH&S and EEE parts qualification testing (e.g., per MIL‑STD‑750, MIL‑STD‑883, MIL‑STD‑464 or similar), including test definition, procedure development, data review, and results analysis for semiconductors, subsystems, and equipment.
- Lead and participate in design reviews for survivable systems, driving closure of actions and ensuring robust verification and validation approaches for NH&S requirements.
