Summary:
The City Students Pastor leads the Student Ministry at Church of the City’s Spring Hill campus. This role provides direction, leadership, and care for middle and high school students, their families, the staff team, and the volunteer team. This position oversees weekly programming, events, volunteer development, and pastoral support for students, creating a space where they can grow in faith, community, and purpose. The ideal candidate is both relational and strategic: someone who can teach and mentor students while leading teams and systems that support a growing ministry.
This role has a schedule of Sunday - Thursday with Wednesday evenings being required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Ministry Leadership and Programming
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the Middle and High School Ministry at COTC Spring Hill.
- Develop and implement a strategy for student engagement, discipleship, and leadership development.
- Oversee weekly gatherings, the Middle School Learning Community on Sundays, and small group environments that are creative, relevant, and spiritually formative.
- Collaborate with the Spring Hill Team in leading the development of teaching content and ensure it aligns with the COTC’s vision and values.
- Be a part of the City Students Teaching Team which involves teaching regularly.
- Collaborate with the Citywide City Students Teams in overseeing major events such as The WKND, summer camp, and retreats while ensuring each experience is organized, safe, and impactful.
- Lead the Student Leadership Team on Sundays, which leads, serves, and provides support to the ministry.
- Launch and lead Youth Alpha as a front door for students far from faith.
- Develop a strategy for local outreach and school engagement.
Staff and Volunteer Leadership
- Lead, develop, and care for the City Students staff team.
- Lead, develop, and care for City Students volunteers.
- Lead staff meetings, trainings, and connects.
- Ensure clear systems for volunteer onboarding, training, communication, and appreciation are in place and working.
- Foster a team culture marked by collaboration, accountability, and encouragement.
Student and Family Engagement
- Build genuine relationships with students, providing spiritual guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Create a safe, welcoming environment where students feel seen, valued, and connected.
- Partner with parents to equip and encourage them as the primary spiritual influence in their student’s life.
- Ensure parents receive consistent communication about upcoming events, opportunities, and resources.
Administration and Operations
- Provide oversight and direction to the Operations Coordinator, partnering to ensure effective ministry administration and operations, including scheduling, communication, event planning, and accurate recordkeeping for students, volunteers, and event participation.
- Own the City Students budget and ensure responsible use of ministry resources.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Operations Coordinator, Programming Coordinator, and the City Students volunteer team.
Required Competencies and General Skills:
A successful candidate possesses competency and demonstrated experience in effective communication, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution.
Must possess general computer skills, including proficiency with Google Suite. Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Capable of adhering to deadlines, managing multiple diverse assignments, and executing tasks effectively. Exhibits practical time management skills and works well in team settings. Demonstrates innovation by suggesting improvements within the scope of work, anticipating needs, and creating efficient, effective processes. Self-motivated, takes ownership of tasks, and shows flexibility and adaptability in dynamic situations. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and connection. Flexible, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Membership Requirement:
Church of the City employees are required to become a Stakeholder of the church within the first 6 months of employment and agree to the beliefs, standards and responsibilities outlined in the Stakeholder Agreement .
Qualifications:
A Christian in submission to the authority of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, as evident in lifestyle. Subscribes to and is in complete agreement with the Church of the City’s Statement of Faith. Represents and upholds Church of the City’s mission, vision, and culture by demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and learning posture. The incumbent is willing to become a stakeholder of COTC within six months of hire.

Education : A High School Level education, or its equivalent required; baccalaureate degree is preferred.
Experience : A satisfactory equivalent of education, training, and experience in related fields and/or educational disciplines, sufficient to qualify for the position’s requirements.
