The Position

EngeniusMicro is seeking an Engineering Intern with an interest in embedded systems to support our engineering team in research and development activities. This position is intended for a motivated college student in their junior or senior year who is looking for an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a professional engineering environment.

The ideal candidate will have completed coursework and/or personal or academic projects involving embedded systems and will have some experience programming microcontrollers or other embedded devices. The intern will work under the direction of experienced engineers and will have opportunities to contribute to active projects involving hardware development, embedded software, system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.

This position is designed to provide meaningful practical experience while allowing the intern to continue developing their technical skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist engineers with the development, integration, and testing of embedded systems

- Develop, modify, and debug embedded software under the direction of experienced engineers

- Assist with programming and configuring microcontrollers and other embedded devices

- Assist with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting

- Support prototype development and proof-of-concept activities

- Assist with circuit bring-up, testing, and debugging

- Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other test equipment

- Develop and execute basic test procedures and document test results

- Analyze test data and assist engineers in identifying and resolving technical issues

- Research components, technologies, and potential solutions to engineering challenges

- Read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, datasheets, and specifications

- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and project meetings as appropriate

- Document development activities, test results, and technical findings

- Maintain organized project files and development documentation

- Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic

- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field

- Junior or senior standing in an undergraduate program

- Demonstrated interest in embedded systems through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, or previous work experience

- Basic programming experience, preferably in C or C++

- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, schematics, and specifications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a small technical team

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and techniques

- Authorization to work for employers in the U.S. without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or transfer employment visas at this time.

Preferred

- Experience developing software for microcontrollers or other embedded platforms

- Experience with C and/or C++

- Familiarity with embedded development environments and debugging tools

- Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, or Ethernet

- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, or other laboratory equipment

- Experience with PCB design, circuit prototyping, or hardware bring-up

- Familiarity with Git or other version-control systems

- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS)

- Experience with Linux or other embedded operating systems

- Experience with personal, academic, or extracurricular engineering projects demonstrating hands-on technical ability
