Work Schedule : Full-Time, 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM (will require on call in the future)

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital is seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technologist to join our growing cardiovascular imaging team and provide high-quality procedural support in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Our Cath Lab Technologists support a diverse range of procedures across the Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP), and Interventional Radiology (IR) settings, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical team members to deliver safe and efficient patient care.

Our procedural areas currently utilize Toshiba and Canon imaging equipment, with an upgrade to Philips technology underway. The team also utilizes an OEC GE Elite C-arm, providing technologists with exposure to a variety of advanced imaging platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to join a department experiencing continued growth, with plans to transition to a 24/7 program in the near future . Experience in cardiac catheterization, EP, and/or IR is preferred, along with a strong interest in growing within a dynamic procedural environment.

What you will do:

- The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS) will utilize professional cardiovascular theory, technology and processes to implement direct patient care on adult patients that require diagnostic or therapeutic procedures within the cardiovascular service.
- Demonstrates role-specific competence and assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in the CathLab, EP Lab, and Hybrid OR specializing in the care of patients undergoing angioplasty, stent placement, vascular procedures, mechanical support deviceplacement (IABP, non-durable ventricular assist device, etc.), EP devices, cardiac ablations, and tilt table exams.
- Assist the physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures to treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias.
- Maintain high standards to achieve quality patient care.
- Communicate continuously with the physician about the patient's condition.
- May perform any of the following: diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital and acquired cardiac and peripheral vascular disease.
- Interventional procedures which may include any of the following: PTCA, stent prep and placement, IABP placement and operation.
- EP proceduresmay include any of the following; EP studies, implantation of pacemaker, ICD, cardiacablations, and tilt table exams.
- Procedural requirements: Room preparation and breakdown including but not limited to, radiographic, hemodynamic and computer setup, stocking rooms and room cleanup.
- Prepare sterile field appropriately for specified procedure type.
- Evaluate the status of the patient during the procedure; provide ageand gender specific care, prep access site according to lab standard practice, and perform EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.
- Acquire and accurately document pertinent patient data in the electronic health record and enter into hemodynamic and X-ray systems.
- Operate all physiologic and radiographic equipment safety and correctly.
- Assess procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness.
- Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure all appropriate needs of the Cath Lab/EP Labteam are met.
- Observe occupational and radiation safety regulations (wearing dosimeter badges, lead aprons, goggles).
- Educate the patient of procedure expectations before, during and after the procedure including post-procedural limitations and restrictions.
- Participate in performance improvement activities.

- Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
- Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
- Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing required

Required Qualifications:

Education:

- Graduate of an associate or baccalaureate academic program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology or respiratory therapy)
- Or A graduate of an associate or baccalaureate academic program in an unrelated field along with graduation from a certificate program in cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiology technology or respiratory.

Experience:

- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in Interventional Radiology or as a Cath Lab Technologist strongly preferred
- Experience with IR procedures, sterile procedures, PICS, PORTS, G-Tubes, and J-Tubes strongly preferred

Degrees, Licensures, and/or Certifications:

- RCIS, RCES, ARRT - RTR, ARRT - Radiography (R), ARRT - Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) , ARRT - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), ARRT - Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), or IBHRE certification within 36 months of employment.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within 6 months of employment (Adult Cath, Adult EP, & Hybrid OR only).
- CV or RCIS certification strongly preferred
