Assistant Accountant

Join our Financial Control team as an Assistant Accountant, where you'll gain hands-on exposure to month-end reporting, compliance, financial controls, and process improvement initiatives. Reporting to a supportive Senior Accountant, this is a great opportunity to build your technical expertise, broaden your commercial finance experience, and make a meaningful contribution within a collaborative team environment.

What are my accountabilities

- Support monthly detailed P&L analysis by investigating significant variances, resolving anomalies, and ensuring data accuracy. Collaborate on improving GL postings to enhance the reliability and integrity of financial reporting.
- Support month‑end, quarter-end and year-end processing, including the preparation and posting of journals for prepayments, accruals, WIP, contractor costs, and intercompany transactions, under guidance from senior team members. prepare and post key journals in line with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Assist in timely financial reports delivery and dashboards (P&L, DSO, KPI metrics) to support decision-making.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness, proactively investigating and resolving unreconciled or unusual items, and escalating discrepancies to senior finance team members while continuously developing strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Support both the external audit process and internal audit process and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
- Travel, Expenses & Concur Management (AU & NZ)
Administer corporate travel and expense processes, including Concur support, user access, and reconciliation oversight to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting, and reviewing and approving corporate traveler invoices.
- Projects, Change & Continuous Improvement
Support office moves, system implementations, and process improvements, contributing to efficiencies and ad hoc business initiatives.
- Assist with tax obligations, including GST, FBT and income tax returns, while keeping up to date with relevant legislation.
- Collaborate with shared services to ensure accurate and efficient month-end close and reporting.
- Financial Operations & Vendor Management
Support end-to-end financial operations across ANZ, including Accounts Payable, procurement, vendor management, and spend control, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective reporting.
- Workplace Operations & Administration
Assist in managing facilities, real estate, and office operations, including vendor coordination, utilities, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance requirements to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Executive Support & Business Initiatives
Provide support to the Executive Team on operational activities, projects, and compliance, contributing to office initiatives, system improvements, and continuous process enhancement across ANZ.
- Fleet Management
Coordinate company vehicle fleet operations, including managing quotations, agreements, usage tracking, and business requirements, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, and reviewing and approving fleet-related invoices.
- Accounts Payable (AU & NZ)
Support financial operations across ANZ, including AP processing, SAP data integrity, cost centre allocations. Assist with budgeting, and coordination with the Malaysia Hub and outsourced providers.

About you:

- CPA/CA qualified or currently progressing
- Practical accounting experience through an assistant accountant position, preferably in a commercial setting
- Exposure to financial control responsibilities, including month-end close and intercompany accounting
- Practical experience in month‑end processing, supported by a sound understanding of accounting principles
- Experience supporting detailed P&L and balance sheet reviews, with a high level of attention to detail
- Intermediate Excel skills (Power Query Preferred)
- Basic understanding of statutory accounting and tax compliance, with the ability to support related activities and learn under guidance.
- Experience across month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting cycles
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Capability to investigate routine financial anomalies and assist in resolving them, with support from senior colleagues when required
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with business units and shared services
- Ability to support the maintenance and documentation of financial controls, with an interest in contributing to continuous improvement.
