Ferguson is currently seeking a Safety Specialist for our Distribution Center in Grand Prairie, TX . This position will be responsible for leading all aspects of safety at the Distribution Center. With 11 strategically located regional distribution centers and a growing network of 6+ market distribution centers throughout the US, this position offers incredible advancement opportunities! Responsibilities:
- Train new associates in the organization's safe operating procedures and safety standards
- Administer safety training and health and safety programs
- Monitor environment to ensure that work areas, tools and equipment meet safety requirements
- Ensure associates operate powered industrial equipment according to Safe Operating Guidelines and FEI Safety Policies
- Document all safety incidents and assist with accident investigations, following established reporting and recording requirements
- Coordinate and lead Safety Committee meetings, publish agendas, email invitations and committee minutes
- Compile data on location incidents rates, restricted duty and lost time per SOP
- Oversee injured worker treatment plans, restricted duty and lost time claims
- Communicate with worker’s comp carrier as needed to ensure cases are handled to completion
- Align and routinely interact with Region Territory Safety Manager to ensure alignment.
- Administer and / or support the administration of the 30-60-90 day Health & Safety Onboarding Program
- Executes safety inspections, audits and safety risk assessments, ensuring OSHA compliance, whilst maintaining all HSE records and reporting.
- Assists with the identification of the sources of risks and hazards, implementing exposure monitoring, integrity controls, and safety systems required to mitigate specific safety risks in operations.
- Coordinates safety training in order to equip staff with knowledge of safe operating procedures and safety standards.
- Supports the field application of safety behavior improvement and HSE culture tools.
- Supports safety meetings and/or field visits, including pre-job safety conferences or Health & Safety Committee meetings.
- Adhere to Company compliance and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and requirements
- Regular and reliable attendance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 3 years of safety specific experience
- Preferred experience in a warehouse supply chain distribution environment.
- Candidate must be willing to work varied shifts depending on the safety needs of the location. Position will include spending time on night shift as well as rare weekends if needed.
- Ability to create and train using Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Possess hazard recognition skills to identify risk and to implement corrective action plans
- Ability to tactfully coach, mentor and correct unsafe behavior in real time
- Able to lift 50 lbs occasionally and work in a warehouse environment subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations, including heat and cold based on outdoor weather conditions
- Certification in OSHA safety procedures preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Exceptional presentation and written skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to professionally and confidently interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Provide strong leadership to drive a culture of safety
- Self-starter requiring minimal supervision

Pay Range:

$3,075.30 - $6,783.70

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
