Lead Pricing and Costing Analyst - Remote Position
We have a rewarding opportunity for a Lead Costing and Pricing Analyst to join our Defense Solutions Team in Santa Clarita, CA.
As our Lead Costing and Pricing Analyst, you will serve as a key subject matter expert and leader in proposal cost development, financial analysis, and pricing strategy for the Integrated Systems business unit, while supporting other Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions business units as required.
In this role, you will lead the development of complex proposal cost and pricing strategies from RFP through award, ensuring proposals are competitively positioned, compliant with company policies and applicable government regulations, and aligned with business and financial objectives. You will partner closely with Proposal Management, Business Unit leadership, Engineering, Finance, Program Management, Procurement, and Product Management to develop sound cost bases, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations for pricing decisions.
The successful candidate will bring strong analytical and financial expertise, sound business judgment, and the ability to influence stakeholders and confidently present and defend pricing recommendations to senior leadership.
Location: Remote (USA)
Salary Range: $108,900 - 145,200 annual per year plus bonus

Your Challenge
- As a key member of the proposal team, the Proposal Analyst, Lead will provide leadership and subject matter expertise across the full proposal lifecycle. Responsibilities include:
- Lead cost and pricing activities for complex development and production proposals from RFP through award, including negotiations and responses to cost/pricing RFIs.
- Lead the development and validation of proposal cost bases, including engineering Basis of Estimates (BOEs), product costs, material costs, labor, overhead, and third-party costs.
- Develop and recommend pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, profitability, risk, contractual requirements, and long-term business objectives.
- Provide guidance and technical leadership to Proposal Analysts and cross-functional proposal team members on costing, pricing methodologies, and proposal requirements.
- Analyze complex cost data and assumptions, identify cost drivers, risks, gaps, and opportunities, and provide recommendations to Business Unit and senior leadership.
- Prepare and review Cost Volumes, Sweep Packages, pricing packages, and supporting financial analyses.
- Lead pricing reviews and present pricing strategies, assumptions, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership for approval.
- Develop and maintain consolidated Bills of Materials and ensure the accuracy and completeness of proposal material costing.
- Partner with Procurement, Engineering, Product Management, Finance, and other functional teams to establish, validate, and document cost bases.
- Lead costing and pricing for third-party items and ensure appropriate assumptions, quotations, and risk considerations are incorporated into proposals.
- Maintain and update direct and indirect rates in ProPricer and ensure pricing models and tools support accurate and consistent proposal development.
- Lead targeted costing, pricing, and closed-loop analysis by comparing post-award actual costs with bid assumptions to identify trends, lessons learned, and opportunities for improved future proposals.
- Develop and implement standardized costing and pricing models, methodologies, and tools that improve efficiency, accuracy, repeatability, and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with Finance and other stakeholders to enhance proposal cost and pricing tools and processes across the organization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Director, Proposal Solutions , Business Unit Directors, Product Managers, Proposal Managers, Finance, and other stakeholders on complex costing and pricing matters.
- Support the development and implementation of proposal pricing best practices, standards, and processes across the organization.
- Ensure timely completion of proposal pricing activities and obtain required approvals in accordance with established processes and business objectives.
- Provide expert support during customer negotiations and internal reviews, including analysis and defense of cost and pricing positions.
- Manage multiple complex proposals and competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, quality, and responsiveness.
- Take a leadership role in resolving ambiguous or highly complex costing and pricing issues and develop practical solutions with limited direction.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote consistency in proposal costing and pricing practices across the business.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 6+ years of related experience in proposal cost development, pricing, financial analysis, or a comparable role, preferably within a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or high-technology environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience developing cost and pricing strategies for government and commercial proposals.
- Strong understanding and practical application of FAR principles, including FAR 14, 15, 16, and 31.
- Extensive experience pricing various contract types, including CPFF, FFP, and T&M, for sole-source and competitive bids.
- Experience with ProPricer is required
- Advanced experience with proposal cost development, cost analysis, and financial modeling.
- Strong knowledge of proposal pricing methodologies, cost structures, and risk analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex proposals and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, and defend pricing recommendations to senior leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and risks, and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to develop sophisticated financial analyses and executive-level presentations.
- Strong experience working with integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Experience preparing and validating consolidated Bills of Materials.
- Experience with cost/revenue analysis, audits, and post-award cost analysis is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority proposals and deliver results within demanding deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently while providing leadership and direction to others.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, exercise sound business judgment, and develop solutions to complex problems with minimal supervision.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build effective relationships across Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Program Management, Product Management, and Business Unit leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Familiarity with the defense and aerospace industry, U.S. government customers, and government contracting practices is highly desirable.
