About this role

The Memorial Health Championship presented by LRS is accepting applications for its 2027 Championship Intern program. The PGA TOUR-sanctioned Korn Ferry Tour event is conducted annually at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois. The four-day, 72-hole competition features 156 players competing for a $1 million purse and showcases professionals pursuing the path to the PGA TOUR. The 2027 Memorial Health Championship presented by LRS will be held June 14-20, 2027. The tournament is managed by Eventive Sports Properties, a nationwide sports management company based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Internship Overview

Championship Interns work alongside full-time tournament staff and gain hands-on experience across event operations, marketing, sponsor and hospitality fulfillment, volunteer management, special events, and tournament execution. Interns will take ownership of assigned projects, work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and interact with tournament partners, volunteers, vendors, participants, and guests. This internship is designed for individuals interested in careers in sports management, marketing, communications, event management, or related fields. Multiple internship opportunities available.

Areas of Exposure & Responsibility

Pro-Am & Participant Programs

- Assist with Pro-Am management from participant registration through event execution, including team rosters, handicaps, pairings, communications, registration materials, gifts, credentials, and on-course support.

- Support the Pro-Am Pairings Party and other participant-facing functions.

- Assist with administration of the Honorary Observer Program, including registration, communications, scheduling, credential fulfillment, event logistics, and on-course operations.

Special Events & Community Engagement

- Support planning and execution of sponsor receptions, volunteer appreciation events, hospitality functions, media events, the trophy ceremony, and other tournament events.

- Coordinate guest lists, registration, event materials, giveaways, promotional displays, setup, on-site logistics, and post-event breakdown.

- Represent the tournament at community events, chamber functions, sponsor activations, festivals, and promotional appearances, and support grassroots initiatives that build tournament awareness and attendance.

Sponsor, Hospitality & Fulfillment

- Assist with fulfillment of sponsor benefits and contractual assets, sponsor activations, branding, hospitality experiences, and sponsor servicing throughout tournament week.

- Conduct sponsor and hospitality walkthroughs to help ensure contractual obligations and guest areas are executed to tournament standards.

- Coordinate distribution of tickets, parking passes, credentials, and hospitality wristbands; prepare packages for sponsors, partners, volunteers, vendors, community partners, and special guests; and maintain accurate inventory and distribution records.

- Provide customer service and help resolve fulfillment questions before and during tournament week.

Marketing, Communications & Digital

- Support tournament marketing campaigns across digital, print, email, social media, and community channels.

- Assist with media materials, promotional initiatives, event communications, and market research.

- Plan, create, schedule, and capture social media content, including photos and video from community events and tournament activities.

- Update tournament website content, sponsor recognition, event information, and ticketing information, and review content for accuracy and consistency.

- Create marketing materials such as social graphics, flyers, email graphics, signage, digital advertisements, and promotional collateral while maintaining brand consistency.

- Manage development of the tournament Spectator Guide, including content collection, partner assets, proofreading, coordination, and final production.

Tournament Operations & Site Management

- Assist with implementation of the tournament site plan, including structures, fencing, seating, branding, operational assets, and course walkthroughs.

- Support the signage plan by coordinating placement, inventory, installation, maintenance, and removal of directional, sponsor, hospitality, and operational signage.

- Assist with setup and preparation of premium hospitality venues, including layouts, furniture, decor, vendor coordination, catering logistics, and quality-assurance walkthroughs.

- Communicate with vendors regarding deliveries, schedules, credentialing, check-in, load-in/load-out, and other on-site logistics; track timelines and help troubleshoot issues.

- Support daily tournament operations, including player services, volunteer operations, scoring logistics, on-course activities, setup, competition operations, and post-event breakdown.

Volunteer, Staff & Community Programs

- Assist with volunteer recruitment, registration, communications, scheduling, assignments, credentials, training materials, appreciation initiatives, and support for Volunteer Committee Chairs.

- Coordinate tournament staff resources, including supplies, uniforms, credentials, meals, operational materials, administrative records, internal communications, and special projects.

Tournament Publications & Production

- Create and manage tournament QR codes and TOUR Leaderboard logos, ensuring branding, sizing, and placement are accurate for scoreboards and tournament assets.

- Assist with tournament handbooks by gathering and organizing content, updating event information, coordinating with internal teams, proofreading, formatting, and preparing materials for final production and distribution.

Abilities, Skills & Knowledge

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

- Self-motivated team player who can work independently and take ownership of assigned projects.

- Strong customer service skills and professional judgment when working with tournament stakeholders.

- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

- Ability to work under pressure and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Requirements

- This internship is intended for students seeking academic credit through their college or university.

- Must be at least 18 years old.

- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects.

- Flexible, punctual, and willing to work evenings, weekends, long hours, and irregular hours as the tournament approaches and during tournament week.

Internship Schedule

- Timeframe: January-June 30, 2027; start date is flexible based on availability.

- Hours: Approximately 10-20 hours per week during the first one to two months, with hours increasing as the tournament approaches.

- Work environment: Most hours will be in the Memorial Health Championship office, with outdoor and on site work required for events and tournament preparation.
