The Opportunity
As our Accounting Manager , this individual will take full ownership of our core accounting operations—from driving the month-end close and handling complex journal entries to managing revenue, COGS, and clinical accruals.
Beyond the day-to-day close, they’ll play a major strategic role in strengthening our financial infrastructure—building out scalable internal controls, managing audit relationships, and serving as our technical GAAP subject matter expert as the company expands.

Location: Hybrid, 3 days a week at our San Mateo, CA Office
Employment type: Full Time, Exempt
Pay range: $130,000 - $150,000
**Final compensation is based on experience, skills, market benchmarks, and internal equity.**
Responsibilities:
Financial Close Leadership: Lead month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes, managing journal entries, reconciliations, and complex revenue, COGS, and R&D/clinical accruals.
Financial Analysis & Reporting: Perform monthly budget variance and quarterly flux analyses, preparing routine and ad hoc accounting schedules for internal and external stakeholders.
Technical Accounting: Serve as the US GAAP subject matter expert, author technical memos and build process flowcharts.
Audit, Compliance & Tax: Act as primary contact for external/internal auditors, maintain SOX compliance procedures, and manage state sales tax submissions.
Systems & Process Optimization: Oversee financial systems, assist with ERP implementations, design internal controls, and partner cross-functionally to drive continuous accounting process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience working in a public company or as an auditor (Big 4 experience a plus)
- Experience dealing with IPO or public company clients strongly recommended
- CPA designation or equivalent certification required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or its equivalent
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles (US GAAP)
- Ability to work independently with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to apply policies and standards consistently
- Able to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- People management experience a plus
- Experience with ERP systems a plus
