About this role

MISSION:

To support the Facilities team in developing, managing, maintaining, and repairing the church campus infrastructure and facilities with excellence and stewardship. Perform hands-on general maintenance and repairs to keep buildings safe, functional, and welcoming, while managing energy usage where applicable, encouraging godly relationships, and serving the church mission. Act as a dependable, high-contributor team member who brings organization, follow-through, resource care, and ideas to create environments where people can connect deeply with God.

*This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week(hours may vary based on ministry needs, special events, and emergencies), including  early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays).

OUTCOMES:

Within 30 days :

- Complete training and achieve competency in daily/weekly facilities rhythms, safety procedures and basic hands-on maintenance tasks.

- Begin assisting with assigned repairs and general building support under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator.

Within 60 days:

- Independently complete assigned routine maintenance and repairs across building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and general trades (painting, carpentry, drywall).

- Support ongoing maintenance and repairs for church assets, respond promptly to requests/emergencies, and assist with event/room preparations as directed.

- Demonstrate reliable communication, organization, and teamwork while working alongside contractors/vendors when needed.

Within 90 days :

- Work with increasing independence to execute timely, high-quality maintenance tasks and contribute to streamlined, effective processes that support ministry.

- Proactively identify minor issues, maintain organized work/storage areas, assist with inventory, and help elevate team performance/volunteers.

- Fully integrate into the team culture, contributing positively in meetings and supporting the church's mission through excellent stewardship.

- Other tasks as needed.

"Must Have" Skills & Responsibilities:

- Hands-On Maintenance & Repairs — Perform general building maintenance and repairs (painting, basic carpentry, basic drywall, furniture setup, minor construction) and support repairs/replacement of equipment/fixtures.

- Building Systems Support — Assist Maintenance Coordinator with basic troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC, lighting, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

- Work  — Complete assigned work timely and safely; respond promptly to maintenance requests and assist during emergencies as directed.

- Event & Space Support — Help prepare rooms/spaces for services, events, and activities (setups/teardowns as needed and if schedule allows).

- Organization & Stewardship — Maintain cleanliness/organization of maintenance areas, storage, tools, and equipment; assist with inventory management of supplies/tools.

- Safety & Compliance — Follow all safety procedures, building codes, and organizational policies consistently.

- Communication — Maintain clear, consistent, values-aligned communication (leading with love, choosing trust, speaking truth in grace); respond promptly to requests/emails/calls.

- Team & Spiritual Engagement — Participate in and contribute to bi-weekly Facilities meetings; actively engage in bi-weekly All Staff Meetings and worship sessions, if schedule aligns.

- Emergency Response — Respond to flood emergencies and stay in communication with monitoring systems via phone/computer as required.

- Flexibility — Adapt to ministry needs, including coverage for openings/closings, custodial support, or managing community service workers when directed.

- Active Learning Mindset — Proactively seek out knowledge and resources—such as YouTube videos, tutorials, manuals, websites, and other relevant materials—when needed to successfully complete projects or maintenance tasks. Be available to participate in both in-house and external training when scheduled.

What is needed to do the job well?

- Commitment to the church’s mission and pride in creating clean, safe, well-functioning spaces for God’s work.

- Basic trade skills and basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general maintenance combined and/or willingness to learn new skills.

- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.

- Physically capable — able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb high ladders, and perform active tasks throughout shifts.

Required Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required.

- 1–3 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, construction, commercial maintenance service, or related field preferred (basic knowledge in one these fields is okay, but willingness to learn is essential and expected).

- Basic knowledge of building systems and general trades (painting, carpentry, drywall, and repairs in general).
