About the Opportunity
The role of Finance Manager is responsible for the financial management of the Residential Care business unit, including month-end and year-end financial, management and statutory accounting activities and reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis and process improvement. The role business partners with Heads of Operations and Facility Managers across the Residential Care business. The role also works closely with the Revenue and Billing Team Leader in ensuring accurate billing and funding is completed and reconciled.
The essence of this role: ensure that all month-end and year-end financial accounts are accurate and completed on a timely basis; support the delivery of accurate budgets and forecasts; business partner with the Residential Care business unit in providing insights and analysis of the results; identify and implement process improvements.
This is a permanent position based at St Leonards with hybrid working opportunities.
How you’ll make an impact
Management and Financial Accounting
- Own the month-end and year-end financial and statutory accounting, including managing general ledger journal entries, corporate allocations and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly management reports, variance analysis and commentary.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to assist operation and strategic decision making.
- Own the completion of the Regulatory and Industry benchmark reporting including Quarterly Financial Reports, Annual Aged Care Financial Report and Stewart Brown reporting.
- Complete grant acquittal submissions for the Residential Care business as required.
- Liaise with the Corporate Finance Team and the external and internal auditors to assist in the audit and review processes
- Support the Revenue and Billing Team Leader in coordinating and managing the revenue team to ensure accurate billing and funding and reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
Budgeting, Forecasting and Analysis
- Support the coordination and preparation of annual budgets in Workday Adaptive Planning across the Residential Care business unit, including partnering with Residential Care operational business managers.
- Assist with rolling forecasts in Workday Adaptive Planning.
- Produce financial analysis, trend reporting and scenario modelling.
- Ensure PowerBI reporting is accurate.
- Assist with ad hoc analysis and strategic projects.
Stakeholder and Team Management
- Develop string working relationships with the Residential Care Heads of Operations and Facility Managers, the Commercial Residential Care Team, business leaders and stakeholders.
- Manage and support one direct report.
- Present financial information in a clear and meaningful manner to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Work closely with Finance Officers ensuring best possible client services, understand and apply Aged Care Regulations, debt management and recovery.
About you
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
- At least 2-3 years practical experience in a similar role. Experience in a not-for-profit organisation is not essential.
- CPA or CA qualified.
- Ability to interpret & apply accounting standards to practical situations and keep up to date with the accounting standard changes.
- Demonstrated experience in financial and management accounting.
- Effective at managing internal and external stakeholders expectations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders throughout the organisation.
- A growth mindset, and commitment to continuous improvement in operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and manage competing priorities.
- Empathy and patience.
Desirable:
- Experience in aged care or not-for-profit sectors.
- Experience with a large ERP, exposure to Epicor and/or Sun systems advantageous.
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or similar budgeting/forecasting tool.
