About this role

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Model Risk Oversight Analyst.

Join our Model Risk Oversight Team within Retail Credit Risk Analytics in UK Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Risk. This role focuses on model risk management for models used in lending decisions and Basel regulatory reporting. You’ll help ensure robust governance, issue and control management and regulatory compliance aligned to SS1/23 and Global Model Risk Policy v5.1. Working closely with stakeholders across the first and second line - including Model Risk Management (MRM), Group Retail Credit Risk (GRCR), model owners/sponsors and portfolio teams - you’ll keep oversight activities running smoothly and to policy standards. Success means clear, timely governance outcomes, accurate inventories, well-managed actions from validations and reporting that gives senior stakeholders confidence in model risk compliance.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

- Facilitate key model governance forums by producing packs, minutes and approvals and taking changes through the correct route to PRA submission where required

- Monitor model risk metrics and compliance then explain results and escalate breaches where needed

- Manage first line post model validation activity by tracking action plans, progressing outcomes and drafting accurate Model Sponsor summaries

- Maintain a high-quality model inventory by keeping GMIS accurate and complete

- Own issue and control management by monitoring RCR Analytics MSIIs and controls and raising new MSIIs to policy standards

- Create dashboards and monthly RMF reporting to provide clear updates for senior stakeholders

- Deliver regulatory and policy change by adapting oversight processes to SS1/23 and Global Model Risk Policy updates including tiering, conditional approvals and industry models

- Simplify and automate oversight processes through documentation, removal of duplication and improvements that strengthen team continuity

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

- Bring retail product knowledge across Credit Cards, Mortgages, Loans and Overdrafts

- Apply experience from credit risk, analytics, modelling, model management or model governance environments

- Demonstrate strong organisational skills across multiple governance deliverables to fixed timelines including packs, minutes, approvals, attestations and dashboards

- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with the ability to tailor messages for technical and senior audiences and escalate issues with clarity

- Use Microsoft Office and Co-Pilot effectively and bring exposure to governance tooling such as GMIS or Helios where possible

- Partner effectively across teams including MRM and GRCR to support consistent, right-first-time governance outcomes

- Apply understanding of model risk governance concepts such as model changes, monitoring, inventories, issues, controls and approvals

- Work with regulatory expectations and policy-driven delivery including SS1/23 and model risk policy frameworks
