A Snapshot of Your Day (Execution Unit EHS Head - TI STG, India) Lead and drive the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy, governance, and execution across the Steam Turbines & Generators (STG) Execution Unit in India. The role is responsible for ensuring Zero Harm, regulatory compliance, and integration of EHS as a core enabler of business performance across factories, project sites, and service operations, while advancing sustainability objectives and delivering on Siemens Energy's ESG commitments.
How You'll Make an Impact Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement the EHS roadmap aligned with global and Country business objectives
- Driving the Zero Harm culture across all STG operations
- Integrate EHS into business decision-making, project lifecycle, and operational excellence initiatives
- Act as a trusted advisor to EU leadership on EHS risks, opportunities, and compliance
2. Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Siemens Energy internal guidelines, national and international regulations applicable to business, local statutory requirements, and ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
- Establish robust governance frameworks, procedures, and control mechanisms
- Lead internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and certifications
- Ensure timely reporting and investigation of incidents, including corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive EHS-related sustainability goals by establishing governance mechanisms, monitoring performance against sustainability targets, and ensuring alignment with Siemens Energy's ESG commitments and goals.
3. Operational Excellence
- Oversee EHS performance across:
- Manufacturing facilities
- Project execution sites
- Service and maintenance operations
- Ensure effective risk management through HIRA, SWMS, and permit-to-work systems
- Drive continuous improvement in leading and lagging EHS indicators
- Implement standardized EHS systems, tools, and digital solutions
4. Risk Management & Incident Prevention
- Identify critical risks related to STG operations (heavy lifts, confined spaces, high-energy systems, working at height, electrical safety, outages, etc.)
- Ensure robust controls and mitigation plans are in place
- Lead serious incident investigations and ensure learnings are cascaded across the organization
- Strengthen contractor EHS management systems
5. Culture, Capability & Engagement
- Build a strong safety culture through visible felt leadership and engagement programs
- Drive competency development for EHS teams, project managers, and frontline workforce
- Lead awareness programs, campaigns, and behavioral safety initiatives
- Promote employee wellbeing, occupational health, and mental health programs
6. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with:
- EU Head and Business Leadership
- Country corporate and global EHS teams
- Project management, manufacturing operations, supply chain, contractors’ teams & other support functions
- Customers, regulators, and external partners
- Represent the organization in customer discussions, audits, and industry forums
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, employees, contractors, customers, regulators, and external stakeholders to foster collaboration, accountability, and a proactive EHS culture.
7. Sustainability & Environmental Leadership
- Drive environmental initiatives such as:
- Carbon footprint reduction
- Waste management and Zero Waste to Landfill
- Resource efficiency and energy optimization
- Integrate sustainability goals into business operations and supplier ecosystem
8. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop an EHS team across factories and project sites
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
- Mentor and build future EHS leaders within the organization
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero fatalities and reduction in LTIs/TRIR
- EHS audit scores and compliance status
- Closure of corrective and preventive actions
- Contractor EHS performance
- Implementation of EHS strategic initiatives and sustainability targets
What You Bring
- Engineering degree or Diploma or Science graduate
- Advance diploma in Industrial Safety / BTech EHS
- 15+ years of progressive EHS experience in energy, heavy engineering, or EPC industry. Project site experience as EHS lead is preferred.
- Proven leadership experience in managing EHS across multiple geographies
- Strong exposure to manufacturing, project execution, and service environments
- Strategic thinking and leadership influence
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and management systems
- Risk assessment and incident investigation expertise
- Stakeholder management and communication skills
- Change management and cultural transformation capability
- High level of integrity, accountability, and decision-making
- Willingness to extensive travel across EU locations (factories and project sites)
- Ability to operate in a multicultural and matrix organization
- Strong alignment with company values on safety, sustainability, and Zero Harm
