Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Kidney Health Manitoba coordinates and delivers kidney health-care services for adults in Manitoba and promotes kidney health through education.

Main Function:

Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services and in collaboration with the Program Teams, the incumbent is responsible for:

- Education program development for nursing and support staff

- Teaching and learning activities

- Policy, procedures, clinical practice guideline and order set development

- Nursing practice standards

- Professional and Self Development

- Patient education development

Experience

- Must have a minimum of four years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in a defined area of clinical nursing practice.

- Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is preferred.

- Previous experience with home dialysis modalities is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.

- Master's degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).

- Successful Completion of Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course (MNNC) or equivalent is required.

- Certificate or certification in a related specialty area preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).

- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

- Current CPR certification required.

Qualifications and Skills

- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.

- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.

- Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.

- Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.

- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.

- Initiates and supports change.

- Demonstrated leadership ability.

- Competency with word processing and presentation programs, required.

Physical Requirements

- May be required to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings.

- Travel throughout the service area by vehicle or air may be required. A valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
