Role Overview

The Editor ensures the clarity, consistency, and quality of technical content by performing developmental editing, managing review processes, and upholding style standards. This role collaborates closely with writers and managers to coach, guide, and maintain editorial excellence. The Editor also leads initiatives in training, continuous improvement, and content governance, contributing to a high-performing documentation team aligned with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Editing and Quality Assurance

- Ensure technical documents are free of errors, clear, concise, and follow styles and standards through developmental editing.
- Ensure consistency across deliverables.
- Ensure the quality of FIG knowledge articles by completing Style and Quality reviews.

Collaboration and Coaching

- Collaborate with technical writers to clarify information that is not clear and suggest improvements.
- Collaborate with managers for the purpose of skill development and coaching.

Standards and Process Management

- Manage the Editorial review process by monitoring the intake of review request and assigning review tasks as required.
- Manage and monitor the Quality review process and train new writers in this process as needed.
- Maintain the team's Technical Writing Style Guide and Wiki and determine when we need to add or update standards.
- Maintain the Acrolinx style guides and review terms submitted by the technical writers.

Training and Development

- Provide continuous learning opportunities.
- Actively participate in the preparation and presentation of Quality workshops.

Basic qualifications for consideration

- Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Technical Communications, Professional Writing, English, or Journalism preferred.
- 7-10 years of relevant technical writing experience in an applicable field.
- Leadership experience, including mentoring or coaching cross-functional teams in a content development or editorial environment.
- Demonstrated mastery of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Experience reviewing, editing, and providing feedback on other writer’s work.
- Strong skills in conflict resolution and collaboration.
- Thorough understanding of the Microsoft Manual of Style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with help development toolsets, including desktop publishing, graphics, and word processing (that is, Word, Visio, Excel, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat).
- Experience using Madcap Flare software and HTML.
- Solid knowledge of content analysis, modeling, design, and structured writing.
- Proficiency with screen capture and screen editing tools for importing into other sources (that is, Flare, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Experience in creating technical documentation within both SDLC and Agile environments.
- Proficiency in writing content in U.S. English.

Preferred qualifications for consideration:

- Advanced degree in Technical Communications.
- Experience writing user interface text and application screen content.
- Experience with Content Management Systems.
- Proficiency with SharePoint document repositories and Word templates.
- Related banking industry experience in platforms, banking applications, payments, or online financial solutions.
