About the role:

Are you looking for a corporate tax role where you'll work on complex technical matters, build trusted client relationships, and continue developing your career alongside experienced Partners and senior leaders?

Our Melbourne Corporate Tax team is growing, and we're looking for an Assistant Manager to join a collaborative, high-performing team with a diverse and expanding client base. This is an opportunity to work across a broad range of corporate tax advisory and compliance matters, support the development of junior team members, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

What you'll do:

Deliver High-Quality Tax Advice & Compliance Services

- Prepare and review corporate income tax returns for a diverse range of clients
- Prepare and review tax effect accounting workpapers
- Research complex tax issues and prepare practical, commercial tax advice
- Draft tax advice letters, reports and technical papers in collaboration with Managers and Partners
- Assist with tax structuring, financing arrangements, acquisitions, disposals and transaction-related tax advice
- Contribute to due diligence engagements and broader corporate tax projects
- Apply and further develop your knowledge of areas including: Tax Consolidation Debt / Equity Rules Thin Capitalisation Commercial Debt Forgiveness Corporate Tax Structuring Transaction and Financing Advice

Build Strong Client Relationships

- Develop trusted relationships with clients and become a key point of contact on engagements
- Deliver practical solutions that help clients navigate complex tax matters with confidence
- Manage client expectations, identify risks and proactively escalate issues where required
- Identify opportunities to connect clients with broader RSM services and specialists

Mentor & Develop Others

- Coach and support junior team members through ongoing mentoring and on-the-job development
- Share technical knowledge through training sessions, collaborative discussions and everyday coaching
- Review work prepared by junior staff and provide constructive feedback
- Support Partners and senior leaders with client delivery, team development and practice growth initiatives

About you:

You are a technically strong corporate tax professional who enjoys solving complex problems, supporting clients and developing others.

Essential

- 4-5 years' experience in Corporate Tax or a similar Professional Services environment
- Strong technical corporate tax knowledge and a willingness to continue developing your expertise
- Experience preparing and reviewing corporate tax compliance work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously while contributing to a team environment
- A proactive, collaborative and client-focused approach

Qualifications

Essential

- Business, Commerce, Finance or Law degree with an Accounting major
- CA or equivalent qualification completed

Desirable

- Double degree including Law
- Master of Taxation
