About The Role :
The Consultant Insurance Services post, reporting through Northern Trust Services and part of the Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis function, will aid in the strategic planning, development, organization, execution, implementation, data gathering and application of the Northern Trust suite of corporate insurance programs. The individual will manage/maintain property lists, tracks assets, and communicate with NT partners with insurance lease provisions, vendor service agreements (collaborating with Procurement as necessary) and insurance compliance with local regulatory bodies and requirements. He/she will serve as a local point of contact to collect underwriting data, compare insurance coverage terms and conditions, review quotes and policies for accuracy, identify coverage gaps and provide evidence of insurance per client’s requests. They will work with insurance brokerage representatives and intermediaries and may be called upon to explain insurance terms and concepts to local partners. The candidate will be called upon to strengthen the group’s internal governance processes relative to claim reporting practices and respond to regulatory, client and audit requests. The ideal candidate will manage the function’s insurance dashboard and may assume escalating responsibilities based on performance, aptitude, and business needs.
This individual will also assist the Trust Real Estate Insurance risk manager on insurance program renewals, program maintenance and policy placement.
Responsibilities / Duties :
- Assist with the insurance renewal activities with insurance broker
- Maintain insurance schedule and updates underwriting data for changes
- Collaborate with internal (Northern Trust Finance) and external parties to ensure insurance coverages are invoiced timely and policies updated in the document repository
- Advise insurers of incidents and potential claims pursuant to policy provisions
- Review property reports, verify insurance coverage for accuracy, and confirm inclusion on Master Global insurance programs as needed
- Maintain insurance dashboard
- Submit funding requests, assist with premium allocations and process policy endorsements in software applications (Yardi)
Skills/ Experience Required :
- General understanding of the insurance industry
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear, comprehensive, written and verbal reports for senior management
- Ability to appropriately prioritize and execute projects in a timely manner
- Ability to analyze and interpret contract language, including insurance policy provisions
- Ability to analyze complex issues, review alternatives, and develop sound recommendations
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Possess working knowledge of MS office (MS Word, MS Excel, and Powerpoint) applications Power BI and Python experience a plus
- Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks from start to finish
- ARM or CPCU insurance designation (or the International equivalent) a plus
- Experience with analytics, visualization, document management, AI, and automation software applications
Travel : As needed (less than 10% per year)
