Job Description:
DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Director, New Business Development, located in Seoul, South Korea.
DePuy Synthes is seeking an experienced candidate to lead external partnership, Business Development and M&A initiatives for DePuy Synthes, supporting the company’s innovation and growth agenda. The Director of New Business Development, International will report directly to the VP Marketing Asia Pacific.
Key Objectives: Working closely with International commercial teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for finding and executing external partnership and acquisition opportunities in Orthopaedics and technology (including digital health) fields. Additional responsibility is to advance the innovation initiatives of DePuy Synthes engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with commercial teams, find and analyze new innovative business opportunities based on insight of unmet customer and market needs to drive inorganic growth for DePuy Synthes:
- Conduct primary and secondary research on market and technology to generate inputs for strategy formation and deal origination
- Support in developing growth strategies involving external opportunities
- Prepare market and valuation models
- Support due diligence process
- Provide support re the structuring and closing of transactions
- Participate in cross functional teams to support the execution of external partnership opportunities in line with globally defined company strategy
- Build and maintain connections with key stakeholders internally and externally
- Present partnership opportunities to DePuy Synthes International, Regional and Market leaders.
- Oversee continuing internal review process for progress on established objectives
- Support the development of the road map for new business development and follow-up activities from market creation, increasing awareness through to adoption after product launch
- Advance the innovation agenda of DePuy Synthes International
- Establish grounds for engagement process to introduce International insights in global projects
- Support the creation of a platform to deliver innovation to DePuy Synthes.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, in addition to external targets aligned to business opportunities

Required Experiences and Skills:
- Experience in finding and analyzing innovation in medtech (including digital) fields and developing business cases for opportunities
- Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive inorganic growth strategies
- Strong business, negotiation, organizational, project management, analytical, decision-making, and influence management skills
- Solid professional network in healthcare and technology
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally, written, PowerPoint) in English and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally, and of varying levels from functional personnel to senior leaders at a market, regional, international and global level
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage several projects simultaneously, and operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary matrix environment
- Demonstrated people management and leadership skills and experience leading cross functional teams to deliver results
- Can demonstrate attention to detail, methodical work approach, strong ownership of work assigned and can deliver results
- Significant work experience to show a track record of working independently across functions and business units
Educational Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university with at least 7 years of business experience or MBA/other advanced degree with at least 5 years relevant business experience
Preferred:
- Licensing, mergers/acquisitions, consulting or banking experience is preferred
- Experience in a customer/external facing role strongly preferred
- Orthopaedics industry/ healthcare industry experience strongly preferred
Other:
- Fluent in English
- This role may require up to 70% domestic and international travel

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
