Safety Champion
This position requires an individual that will be responsible for the proactive, day-to-day monitoring of the Amazon Safety program. This individual will assist the safety manager in monitoring safety compliance and provide assistance in the identification of potential safety hazards within the SC environment. The qualified candidate will engage in a professional manner with the entire SC workforce and management team as it relates to safety awareness and education. The candidate will communicate, both written and orally, to assist in correcting violations and promote the program of safety awareness.
Key job responsibilities
• Assist in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the workplace to ensure compliance with Company Safety policies in order to provide a safe and secure workplace for employees, visitors, vendors, and guests.
• Maintain daily, documentation requirements to report activities, and other related safety prevention matters.
• Be a leader in customer service to the Operations team. Understand and frequently work in operations process paths.
• Respond to situations, as they arise, based on direction from the Safety Manager.
• Perform site physical condition safety observations, associate safety behavior observations; and, audits and inspections in relation to fire and safety related equipment.
• Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all personnel in complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Conduct training and coach associates on observed work habits in support of this effort.
• Train and assist others (Area Managers, Safety Team Members, etc) to complete their Safety responsibilities (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc).
• Perform Specific Safety Training as required by the Safety Manager.

This is an interim role for Peak and not a permanent role.

Basic Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Qualifications: • Proficient in PC supported MS programs Excel, Word and Access • Candidate must be willing to respond as appropriate to all emergencies and be able to maintain any certifications or licenses required including first aid and CPR • Must be willing and able to work all shifts • Associates must be in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

- Preferred Qualifications: • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the position. • 2+ years previous experience in Safety-related activities. The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location. USA, VA, Sterling - 20.50 - 21.50 USD hourly
