What We Do

- Capital Markets Structuring: We lead capital raising across equity and debt, conduct market and site selection, structure partnerships, and develop reinvestment strategies

- Property Development: We oversee architecture and design, manage construction, and drive residential real-estate sales from concept through completion.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The Director of Sales and Marketing leads the commercial strategy for The Thompson San Antonio, owned by The Loren Group Holdings. This leader is accountable for building profitable demand, developing the sales and marketing team, and translating The Lorens positioning into a clear plan for group, corporate, luxury leisure, and local business. The role calls for a strategic thinker who is equally willing to pursue accounts, coach the team, and move opportunities to contract.

Working with the General Manager, VP Commercial, Revenue Management, and Hyatt commercial partners, the DOSM will set priorities, establish a disciplined sales cadence, and guide the hotels continued evolution as a Loren destination. The leader will help develop distinctive experiences and partnerships that strengthen the hotels appeal and create measurable demand.

Commercial Strategy and Performance

- Own the annual sales and marketing plan, segment strategy, deployment, budget, and measurable goals across rooms, groups, events, and relevant ancillary revenue.

- Partner with Revenue Management on forecasts, pricing, business mix, displacement decisions, and competitive positioning; use pace, pickup, pipeline, and market data to adjust tactics.

- Lead business reviews and communicate performance, risks, and action plans to property and ownership leadership.

- Manage sales and marketing expenses and evaluate return on investment from campaigns, travel, partnerships, and distribution opportunities.

Group, Corporate, and Weekday Demand

- Build a qualified group pipeline for future years through proactive prospecting, account planning, site visits, compelling proposals, and consistent follow-up.

- Set strategy for corporate meetings, executive retreats, social events, and buyouts, with close attention to conversion, value, and operational fit.

- Grow Sunday through Thursday demand through local and regional corporate relationships, negotiated accounts, entertainment and sports opportunities, and other high-value need periods.

- Oversee RFP strategy, contracts, rate negotiations, account retention, reactivation, and acquisition; maintain accurate CRM activity and production reporting.

Luxury Leisure and Brand Partnerships

- Develop luxury travel advisor and consortia relationships, including appropriate Hyatt and Loren channels, and turn those relationships into measurable production.

- Create a targeted partnership plan with cultural, culinary, wellness, and community partners that attracts new guests and strengthens local relevance.

- Represent the property at selected trade events, client meetings, and industry forums; coordinate account and market priorities with portfolio leadership.

Marketing and Loren Experiences

- Lead the property marketing plan in partnership with Loren brand leadership, Hyatt resources, and agency partners, including campaigns, content, public relations, digital channels, and on-property programming.

- Work with Operations and Food and Beverage to develop, package, launch, and measure Loren experiences that feel authentic to San Antonio and give guests a reason to return.

- Ensure the hotels story, imagery, offers, and sales materials are accurate, distinctive, and consistent across channels.

Team Leadership and Commercial Structure

- Assess the current organization and build the roles, processes, reporting, and accountability needed for a high-performing sales and marketing team.

- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain team members; set clear individual goals and support strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills.

- Establish a reliable cadence for lead review, group pipeline reporting, account plans, sales activity, forecast input, and cross-functional handoffs.

- Partner with Hyatt during the transition and ongoing operation to use its commercial tools, training, distribution, and support while maintaining The Lorens guest experience and brand voice.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Marketing or related college degree, preferred.

Experience

- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive sales and marketing leadership experience , including responsibility for a team, commercial plans, budgets, and revenue results; luxury or lifestyle hotel experience strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated success building group pipelines and corporate accounts, alongside knowledge of luxury leisure, travel advisor, and consortia business.

- Knowledge of the San Antonio market and experience with Hyatt systems or brand transitions are valuable.

Knowledge/Skills

- Strong commercial judgment with the ability to interpret forecasts, market share, pricing, segment contribution, and campaign performance.

- A proven ability to establish team structure, coach managers, and lead through change while staying close to clients and active opportunities.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills; familiarity with hotel CRM, PMS, and revenue systems.

Physical Requirements

- Able to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative productivity standards.

- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
