Viridor is at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in the UK, operating the largest network of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs). We play a crucial role in supporting the UK's climate goals by diverting waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable energy resources.

We have an immediate need for an Industry Placement student to join our Operations at Tee Side Valley at a really exciting construction phase of the project. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday for 12 months.

This exciting opportunity involves supporting the delivery of sustainable building projects through a Year in Industry placement focused on BRREAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method). Working across a range of sustainability categories including management, health and wellbeing, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, land use and ecology, pollution and innovation.

This placement will provide practical experience in assessing and improving the environmental performance of buildings. The role contributes to ensuring the project meets the sustainability objectives and achieve targeted BREEAM ratings through effective coordination and compliance with assessment requirements.

The position requires close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors and clients to gather, review and manage project information. The placement offers valuable exposure to building services management and sustainable construction practices, providing a strong foundation for a career in the built environment and sustainability sector.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support BREEAM assessments by collecting and managing project evidence and documentation.

- Monitor project compliance against BREEAM requirements and sustainability targets.

- Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, clients and internal teams to gather required information.

- Maintain accurate records, trackers and document control systems.

- Assist with sustainability reporting and preparation of BREEAM submissions.

- Review project information with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Coordinate stakeholder meetings and follow up on actions and information requests.

- Provide administrative support to the sustainability and building services teams.

- Research sustainability best practices and emerging industry standards.

- Prepare and contribute to BREEAM assessments, sustainability records and report documentation by collecting, analysing and presenting accurate data.

Wider project team support on an ad hoc basis, including ERSV delivery support.

Requirements:

- Strong communication skills both written and verbal

- Attention to detail

- Administrative experience (Microsoft 365)

- Must be over 18 years of age due to the nature of the construction site.

- Exposure to Building Services is desirable

- Strong interest in sustainability within the construction industry
